One of the major reasons many people believe the DMK alliance faced setbacks is the repeated messaging from certain alliance parties that appeared critical of Hindu practices and traditions.

Even after the election, similar narratives are still being projected in the Assembly. When Udhayanidhi once again mentioned Sanatana Dharma, many expected CM Vijay to give a clear response or balancing statement in the Assembly — especially since a large section of Hindu voters supported TVK with trust and expectation.

At the same time, CM Vijay’s statement that “this government is for minorities” is also being interpreted by some people as indirectly aligning with the anti-Hindu perception created around the DMK alliance.

A government should make every community feel equally respected and represented, without creating the impression that one side alone is being prioritised.
