Quick reminder for anyone who follows my repairs 👇
I do have a private VIP community on Locals for people who want a place to ask questions and get help with repairs. It's free to view but must subscribe to post.
It’s basically like a small private forum where repair techs can make posts whenever they get stuck on something.
If you run a repair shop or do board work and ever think:
• “Why won’t this board boot after sandwich reball?”
• “Does this panic log point to NAND or Charging Port?”
• “Which soldering tip works best for this job?”
• “What wick are you guys using for cleaning pads?”
• “What chips do I actually need to move for a CPU swap?”
• “Is this short likely under the PMIC or somewhere else?”
That’s exactly the type of stuff you can post there.
The big reason I made the community years ago is because I get a lot of DMs asking for 1 on 1 help, and unfortunately I usually don’t have time to respond to private messages during the day.
But inside the Locals community, I actually check the posts every day and can reply there.
So if you ever need help with things like:
• troubleshooting board level issues
• interpreting panic logs
• tool recommendations
• soldering tips / wick / microscope setups
• CPU swap questions
• Samsung board behavior
that’s the best place to ask.
Another bonus is other repair techs in the community can also jump in and help, so it can become a really good knowledge base.
Also just being transparent, the membership helps support the YouTube channel. I recently hired a video editor because editing the repair videos takes a huge amount of time. The community helps fund that so I can keep putting out more repair content.
If you’re interested in joining, I’ll post the Locals link in the comments 👇
And if you’re already a member, feel free to make a new post & introduce yourself!

I got an iPhone 15 Pro mailed in from New Hampshire for Data Recovery. The front & back were smashed pretty bad.

Took the phone apart & found the bottom board was dented pretty bad

Separated the sandwich to just the top board only and found I had a short before prompt to boot. Tracked it down to a shorted C4222 on PP_VDD_SNS_BPIC

Removed the bad cap & I still had a short. Found the next short on C3499 on VDD MAIN

After that, no shorts before prompt to boot. So I thought that was it...

Well I was wrong. There was a 700mA short after prompt to boot.

Looking at the board under the thermal camera.. heat was coming from the NAND. Although the NAND looked in very good condition with no signs of physical damage. See first pic.

So I decided to remove the NAND to check further.

Without NAND, no short. It would just boot to DFU mode

Closer inspection of the NAND, I found there was a small crack running along the side wall.

When the NAND is cracked, it's GAME OVER. There's no way to recover data from a case like this.

The customer was very hopeful that we could recover their data, but unfortunately, it wasn't possible in this case

BIG NEWS — I got featured on Phone Repair Guru’s channel! 🔥

If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like to grill a motherboard like a grilled cheese, this is the one to watch 😂

PRG reached out and asked me to tackle a pretty wild board that wouldn’t charge and kept bootlooping. So I did what I do best—threw it on the heat plate, did some micro soldering magic, and brought it back to life 🙌

🎥 Check out the video here:www.youtube.com/shorts/23iRmo...

I know it's been a while since I posted a new video. I've been super swamped with data recovery jobs.

The past few weeks, I've also had a ton of rabbit holes that just caused me to waste days with it ending up as No Fix.

As you may know, that's never fun!

I do have a video recorded, I just need to find some time to edit it & post it.

Currently, I have about 30 more data jobs to do, with more on the way.

How bad do you guys want to see a new video?

If I get enough likes on here, maybe i'll just take a break from the repair grind & finish this video I've been meaning to post...

On Friday's Livestream, I will be reviewing the Forward Hot Air Station & Soldering Iron.

Make sure to join, so you can ask any questions about them.

There's some interesting features on the hot air station, that makes me want to switch from the Atten ST-862D

But... some things have happened, that made me choose otherwise.

Tune in to find out everything you need to know about these tools!
