Recovery music written from real experience.
My name is Laura, and I’m The Recovery Girl.
This channel was created from my own recovery journey. I write every lyric based on what I’ve lived and learned, I just don’t sing the songs.
Music has become a way for me to process, heal, and put into words the things I couldn’t always say out loud.
If you’ve ever struggled, sat in a recovery room, or felt overwhelmed or alone… this space is for you.
This isn’t about being perfect or having all the answers. It’s about honesty, growth, and not doing it alone.

❤️ New Song Release: If You Could Only See My Heart
There are parts of ourselves we don’t always let people see.
The fears we hide.
The mistakes we regret.
The pain we carry quietly.
The love we wish others could understand.
I wrote this song about what it would feel like if someone could look past all of that… and truly see the heart underneath.
Recovery has taught me that healing begins with honesty. The more we’re willing to let ourselves be seen, the less shame has the power to keep us isolated.
My hope is that this song reminds you that you are more than your past, more than your struggles, and worthy of being known and loved just as you are.
🎵 “If You Could Only See My Heart” is now live on my YouTube channel.
Thank you for walking this healing journey with me. Every listen, comment, and message reminds me why I started writing these songs. ❤️

Yesterday I had the privilege of being part of a panel sharing about service in my program, and I’m still feeling incredibly grateful.
Being asked to speak was an honor, especially knowing that my one-year anniversary isn’t until July 10. I still feel very new, and there is so much I’m continuing to learn.
Service has become one of the greatest gifts of my recovery. It gives me a sense of belonging and reminds me that none of us are alone. Someone reached out to me when I needed it most, and now I have the opportunity to pass along even a small part of what has been so freely given to me.
I don’t have all the answers, but I do have a willingness to show up, to keep learning, and to be there for the next person the way others have been there for me.
Thank you to everyone who has walked beside me this past year. Your love, encouragement, and example have changed my life more than you’ll ever know. ❤️

Yesterday I had the privilege of sharing my story. 🙈
I was nervous. Vulnerable. Emotional. There were moments when I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get through it.
But as I looked around the room, I saw my sponsor, my recovery family, and so many people who showed up just to support me. Honestly, it was overwhelming in the best way.
Recovery has taught me that healing doesn’t happen alone. It happens in safe places with safe people. Yesterday reminded me just how grateful I am to have found both.
To everyone who came, listened, encouraged me, hugged me, or simply sat with me… thank you. Your presence meant more than I can put into words.
I hope that by sharing my story, someone felt a little less alone. I hope someone saw that healing is possible, no matter where you’ve been or what you’ve walked through. If even one person walked away with a little more hope, then every vulnerable moment was worth it.
I walked away feeling incredibly grateful. I couldn’t have done it alone, and I wouldn’t want to. ❤️

One thing I’ve been working on lately is organizing my music into albums so it’s easier to listen to songs that share a similar theme and message.
So far, I’ve created three The Recovery Girl albums, each representing a different part of my recovery journey.
If you’ve only heard a song here and there, the albums are a great way to experience the bigger picture and hear how the songs connect together.
Each song is written from my own experience, strength, hope, struggles, lessons, and growth. They’re not just individual songs to me, they’re chapters of a story that I’m still living and learning from every day.
I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has listened, commented, shared a song, or simply followed along on this journey.
I’ll post the links to all three albums below if you’d like to listen.
And I’d love to know…
Do you have a favorite song so far?
Or is there a recovery topic you’d like to hear a song about in the future?
Thank you for being here and being part of this community. ❤️

Sometimes the hardest part of healing isn’t seeing someone else’s behavior clearly…
It’s being honest about our own motives.
Why do I say yes when I want to say no?
Why do I keep trying to fix things that aren’t mine to fix?
Am I acting out of love, fear, guilt, approval, or control?
My new song, Motives, was inspired by the idea that recovery isn’t just about changing what we do, it’s about understanding why we do it.
The more I grow, the more I realize that real healing starts with honest self reflection.
I hope this song encourages you to pause, look inward, and give yourself grace along the way. ❤️
Thank you for being part of this journey with me.
🎵 Motives is available now on my channel.

Lately I’ve noticed people listening to my music between 1:00 AM and 4:00 AM.
I don’t know who you are or what you’re carrying, but I want you to know how much that touches my heart.
The reason I started making recovery music wasn’t because I had all the answers. It was because I needed healing myself. Writing these songs became part of my own journey toward emotional sobriety, faith, and growth.
If you’re listening in the middle of the night because you’re hurting, searching, healing, or simply trying to make it through another day, please know you’re not alone.
I’m still learning. I’m still growing. I’m walking this path one day at a time, just like so many of you.
My hope has always been that if a song helped me through something, maybe it could shine a little light for someone else too.
Thank you for listening. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey. And thank you for reminding me why I started this in the first place.
If you ever want to share your story, tell me how a song connected with you, or simply reach out, I’d love to hear from you.

My newest song, Progress Not Perfection, is now live. ❤️
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in recovery is that healing isn’t about getting everything right. It’s about showing up, being willing, learning from mistakes, and taking the next right step.
For a long time, I thought growth meant never falling down. Today, I know growth often looks like getting back up, again and again.
This song is for anyone who has ever felt like they weren’t doing recovery, life, or healing “perfectly.”
Keep going. Small steps still count. 🌅
What does “progress not perfection” mean to you?

70 subscribers. ❤️
I know 70 may not sound like a huge number to some people, but to me it’s 70 people who connected with a message of hope, healing, and recovery.
Thank you for listening, sharing, commenting, and being part of this journey. Every song I write comes from real experience, strength, hope, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.
One of the things I’ve learned in recovery is that we are not alone. Every time you share a song, leave a comment, or connect with someone who’s struggling, you’re helping spread that message.
Let’s keep talking about recovery.
Let’s keep sharing hope.
Let’s keep reminding each other that healing is possible.
What song has connected with you the most so far? ❤️

Trust is one of those things I used to think could be restored with the right words.
What I’ve learned is that trust isn’t rebuilt through promises, explanations, or guarantees. It’s rebuilt through honesty, consistency, and actions that stay true over time.
My new song, Trust Takes Time, is about the healing process that happens when we stop looking for certainty and start paying attention to what is real.
Whether you’re rebuilding trust with someone else, learning to trust yourself again, or trusting your Higher Power, I hope this song meets you where you are.
❤️ Healing through music.

I just released a new song called Driven and this one is a little different from my other recovery songs.
Recovery has taught me that self-care is not selfish.
For a long time, I thought taking care of myself should come after everyone else. But I’m learning that my physical health, emotional health, and spiritual health are all connected.
For me, working out has become more than just exercise. It’s become a way to clear my mind, process my emotions, and spend time with my Higher Power.
Some days I feel motivated. Some days I don’t.
Those are the days I ask my Higher Power to drive. To give me the strength, willingness, and discipline to keep showing up even when I don’t feel like it.
That’s what this song is about.
Not perfection.
Not having it all together.
Just taking the next step and trusting that I’m being guided in the right direction.
I’d love to hear from you:
What is one thing you do for self-care that helps keep you grounded?
For me lately, it’s exercise, meetings, music, and spending time with my Higher Power.
I can’t wait to hear your answers. ❤️
