Something about this time of year, maybe it’s the sun or maybe just a vibe, makes me yearn for some far distant shores.
A Greek island maybe with its stunning bright white architecture, or a Spanish old town bathed in auburn light.
That feeling of watching a sunset, drink in hand. You can hear the waves gently washing up the beach. The air is warm but your skin feels relief at the cooler evening temperatures after a long day in the burning sun. You feel that anything in life is possible and every day responsibility is just a distant dream. This is how life should be.
30 years of Virgin Atlantic at Manchester Airport - I played a small part between around 2008-2010 when I worked on check-in there. Here are some things I remember from that time:
✈️ a bag being so overweight the scale couldn’t even register it anymore (over 50kg)
👠 when the 747 was standard and every premium economy passenger asked to sit “in the bubble”
⭐ being told I’d checked in various footballers and I didn’t have a clue
☀️learning the address of every hotel and resort in the Orlando area as online ESTA’s weren’t a thing yet
❤️ playing the game of guess how many passengers say how cold it is when they get off a Barbados flight in shorts in the middle of winter
😍 standing next a 747 on a remote stand more times than I can remember
🫶🏻 getting the chance to chat with so many amazing people
