Burn The Stigma with Tara Grace

We are here to break down misinformation, challenge outdated recovery narratives and advocate for harm reduction, drug policy reform and evidence-based treatment. For too long, stigma has fueled harmful policies, ineffective treatment models, and shame-based approaches to substance use. We are here to change that.
🚫 No more one-size-fits-all recovery.
🚫 No more abstinence-only ultimatums.
🚫 No more blaming people for struggling in a system designed to fail them.
Instead, we focus on truth, education and real solutions.Whether it’s harm reduction strategies, exposing the rehab industrial complex, or pushing back against the war on drugs propaganda, we are getting to bottom of it all.
šŸ“¢ Speaking out isn’t negativity, it’s necessary.
If you’re ready to challenge the status quo and burn the stigma surrounding substance use, substance use disorder and recovery, hit subscribe and join the movement.

šŸ”„ Fuel truth. Extinguish Misinformation. Ignite Change. Burn The StigmašŸ”„

Apologies for no upload had a busy weekend. I tabled at a festival 2 hours away, but it was great! I love the cannabis community so much.

Being around people who are comfortable being themselves with substances has helped me become more comfortable and open and honest myself.

And there’s something really freeing about that šŸ˜¶ā€šŸŒ«ļøšŸ˜¶ā€šŸŒ«ļø

Nobody is asking people to be perfect but there’s a huge difference between imperfection and a culture where exploitation, manipulation, predatory behavior and abuse keep getting normalized because ā€œpeople are human.ā€

The recovery world has created an environment where almost any criticism can be deflected:
ā€œSome are sicker than others.ā€
ā€œWe are all human.ā€
ā€œTake what you need and leave the rest.ā€

And because of that, the burden constantly gets pushed onto vulnerable people instead of onto the systems and individuals causing harm. That’s why these patterns keep repeating. Way too many spaces protect the image of recovery culture more than they care to protect the people inside it.

Burn The Stigma with Tara Grace

I know many people here don’t follow me on Facebook so I think I’m going to start posting some of those posts here.

2 days ago I posted about how people reduce everything I say to my personal experience. Then I posted the same reel I posted here on IG about how 12 step isn't just a pathway, it's an ideology with a monopoly on how this country understands and treats substance use disorder. Nothing about me. Nothing about what worked or didn't work for me. It was a structural critique of infrastructure which is what I have been focusing on more lately.

And right on cue, a small content creator in the abstinence based space shows up in my comments to ask why I can't "just accept it didn't work for you and move on."

You can't make this ish up. I didn't mention my experience. I was talking about policy, treatment norms, probation compliance, family court and public perception. She heard "my experience.ā€

This is exactly how nothing changes. Make the person the problem so you never have to look at the system. If you take my entire experience out of it, the argument still stands. The treatment industry is dominated by one ideology. That ideology is written into court mandates, treatment, sober living standards and what the average person thinks recovery even means.

None of that requires me to have a story, although I do. And so do many others.

I just want to say thank you to this community, those of you who watch and interact with my videos. You guys make me want to keep creating content even as a small creator who has been a small creator for 6 years šŸ˜‚ I never managed to grow my accounts like most people do, but I have people in the community who make me feel like this is all worth it, so thank you šŸ’œ

I am sending a formal collective letter to RFK JR and the DHHS to reject the recovery initiatives currently being pushed at the federal level. For too long, the 12 step model has been the only "gold standard," and we know the human cost of that monopoly.

If you have been harmed in 12 step spaces or by 12 step dogma, please share your story. Also if you have attempd 12 step recovery but found freedom in other paths, I would love to share that too.

If the form is too complicated, you may submit your story via email to 12stepharm@gmail.com

Your voice matters šŸ’œ Please share with anyone you think may want to participate.
