Hey everyone, I want to share something new. From now on, every two weeks, I’ll ask my channel members what you’re interested in—any questions or topics you want me to talk about. I’ll pick one I like and turn it into a public video. For now, we’ll do this every two weeks, and later I’ll try to do it more often. So, feel free to become a channel member. I also want to say sorry for not giving members enough perks or exclusive content. I do try to reply to your messages first and read all your comments, but even with some member-only videos, I feel like it’s still not enough. So with this new plan and a better schedule, I hope to give you more perks and a better experience. I’ll treat this as the first post, and I’ll ask again in two weeks and turn it into another public video. (A similar post next time will be members-only.) So what are you interested in? What do you want me to cover?
Happy Year of the Horse, everyone! Thank you to everyone who follows and supports my channel. My daughter had a cough with a lot of phlegm and had to stay in the hospital for four days. Thankfully, she fully recovered and was able to go home right before the Spring Festival I hope all of you stay healthy, happy, and enjoy the new year!
Today, my little girl and I visited a porcelain exhibition in Guangzhou. This is Dehua White Porcelain. It became famous worldwide during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and Europeans even called it 'Chinese White' The secret of the porcelain lies in the high-quality kaolin found in Dehua, Fujian Province, which is much purer and denser than regular clay. This type of clay allows for incredibly detailed designs, such as molding, carving, and hollowing. You can see porcelain that looks like silk, paper, food, flowers, fabric, and so on
Today, my baby girl and I watched some Cantonese opera. In Guangzhou, People can get a close look at the costumes and phoenix crowns. Each character was so unique, and this year, some of them were even wearing Santa hats with their traditional outfits😄😄 Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!🎉🎉🎊
Image1-4: This is an ivory chess set. While chess isn't originally from China, all the pieces are in a Chinese style. From each of the black squares, you can see ancient Chinese-style artwork.
Image5-6: This is a tortoiseshell folding fan from the Qing Dynasty. It was one of the Chinese-style luxury items that became popular in the West during the late Qing dynasty. The fan was made from precious tortoiseshell. It features detailed carvings that bring the stories of the figures to life.
Image7: This is a Chinese-style round fan. This fan was a popular export item in the late Qing period. It features beautiful double-sided embroidery, showing a peacock spreading its tail, and is a classic example of (Canton) Guangzhou's local embroidery art.
Image8-9: This is a robe from the Republic of China period, made of white satin with a "Hundred Birds Adoring the Phoenix" design. The robe shows a scene of a hundred birds surrounding a phoenix.
Image 1-2: This is a jade carving, and the chicken looks so lifelike. It’s inspired by a local Guangzhou delicacy: White-cut chicken. The piece is made from local jade, and the craftsmanship blends the beauty of the shape with the natural color of the stone. Image 3-7: This is an ivory carving; at the top of the tree is a "ghost ball" carving. Since the ivory trade was banned at the end of the last century, carvers have started using other animal bones as substitutes for ivory. Image 8: My baby girl🤗
Hey everyone, winter just started and I’ve come down with some bad mouth ulcers☹️,so I’ll need to take a short break and won’t be able to update for the next 5–7 days. Also, I’m really sorry that over the past few months I haven’t been able to keep up with my promise of regular long-form uploads, as taking care of my kid has made it hard to stay consistent Thank you so much for all your support and good wishes.
Please make sure you post more on your social media (whether it’s private or public🤗), not for the likes, views or followers, but for your real audience-it's you at 70 or 80, when you'll be sitting in a rocking chair. Every day might feel like just another day, but soon enough, it’ll be yesterday, and you can't go back Btw, The giant fish in the photo, is the same AoYu I mentioned in one of my Short videos
Thanks for everyone’s good wishes! My little Siobhan just turned 3 months old. I haven’t really taken her out much these past few months, but since the weather’s nice today, I decided to take her for a walk. Turns out, I made the rookie mistake of a new dad; she's still a bit too early to be held upright like that😂
