Tender announced for the construction of the large urban park Alto de la Casilla

The Torrevieja Municipal Government has officially launched the tender for the construction of the Parque Urbano Alto de la Casilla — one of the largest green projects in recent years in the city. The works have been put out to public tender with an investment of €11.9 million and a planned construction period of 8 months. If administrative timelines are met, the park could be completed and opened between February and March 2027.

The Alto de la Casilla project will transform an underused area into an accessible and open public space that serves as a new focal point for residents and families.

🌳 Key features of the new park:

- Size: ~30,000 m² of green space
- Territorial regeneration: New urban park integrating with the landscape
- Family-oriented areas: Large shaded walkways and resting areas
- Cafeteria: A natural-integrated café space for visitors
- Mobility: Bicycle parking and a car park with ~89 spaces
- Vegetation: Over 537 trees and more than 12,000 plants of drought-resistant species
- Children’s zones: Multiple themed playground areas and panoramic viewpoints with views of the Mediterranean landscape and the nearby salt lagoons.

📅 Tender period: 35 days for submissions
📅 Contractor selection: Expected by April 2026
📅 Start of works: May 2026
📅 Estimated completion: February–March 2027 (if scheduled milestones are met)

This project positions Alto de la Casilla as a future major green lung and family destination within the city.

Juan Atienza's Exhibition "Watercolors" (La exposición “Acuarelas” de Juan Atienz)

Yesterday, my wife and I visited the exhibition of artist Juan Atienza, currently being held at Centro Cultural Virgen del Carmen in Torrevieja.

Juan Atienza, born in Torrevieja in 1961, is a self-taught artist whose passion for art began at the age of 8. Throughout his life, he studied oil painting techniques and explored various artistic approaches.

This exhibition marks Atienza's debut with watercolors, showcasing his talent for capturing landscapes and city scenes filled with atmosphere and detail.

I’m sharing a few photos of his works presented at the exhibition so you can appreciate his mastery.
