When I first toured the Canada in 2023, my absolute highlight was meeting a remarkable 6 year old named Elijah. He was the purest soul I'd ever encountered - fragile body, but a spirit full of light. Elijah was born with chronic heart disease (CHD) & leading up to the show he had already gone through 4 open heart surgeries, brain surgery & more - but none of that would stop him from coming to my concert. After the show, he shared how my music, especially "Beautiful Day" brought him comfort during his darkest moments of pain. I stayed in touch with his dad, who would keep me updated on how he was doing through all the ups & downs & I would do my best to send him messages of encouragement when things were getting tough.
This last weekend I got some heartbreaking news from his dad: Elijah had passed away. The news absolutely destroyed me - how could such a sweet, vibrant boy be taken so soon? In the depths of my grief, I felt a warm, comforting presence envelop me - my Spirit felt like it was vibrating. It was Elijah, reassuring me that he is free from pain, and he was in a better place. Rest in peace, dear Elijah (2017–2025). Your light will forever inspire me ✨
