Watch PC Health Critic Kathleen Cook share why Manitobans need more than a critical incident review to restore their confidence in the healthcare system.

This interview came following the news of Stacey Ross’ death after waiting at St. Boniface ER in January (but before we learned of Judy Burns’ subsequent death).

PCs are calling for a full public inquiry into the healthcare system to provide families and Manitobans answers, and to prevent future tragedies.

MLA Cook also shares what PCs believe the government should be addressing right now in order to make a difference.

Wab Kinew’s NDP have BLOCKED our free trade bill.

Bill 227, introduced by PC Finance Critic and Midland MLA Lauren Stone earlier this week, would have removed trade & labour mobility barriers between Manitoba and any other province that agrees to do the same.

The NDP said “no.”

Blocking Bill 227 from moving forward yesterday fails workers and businesses, and further proves that the NDP have no serious plan for the provincial economy.

“With the current state of global trade and ongoing economic uncertainty, it’s shocking that the Kinew government won’t act quickly to remove trade barriers between provinces,” said Stone.

The NDP have had 6 months to show that they’re serious about fighting U.S. and Chinese tariffs that are putting our workers and industries at risk. But they’ve done nothing.

“Today was a real opportunity to show leadership, to make Manitoba more competitive, and to show that we’re open for business. Instead, the NDP chose to stall,” said Stone.

The federal government estimates that cutting trade barriers between provinces could grow Canada’s economy by up to $200 billion and lower prices by as much as 15%.

“The NDP have no plan to deal with tariffs, no relief for rising costs, and no support for Manitobans who are worried about their jobs and their future,” said Stone.

Only the NDP would call a $1.3-billion deficit “good news”.

Manitoba’s projected deficit has increased by $513 million in just six months under Wab Kinew and Adrien Sala’s mismanagement of taxpayer dollars.

To make matters worse, Manitoba is looking at $69 million taken away from front-line services, as debt servicing costs are projected to hit $2.33 billion.

Tax hikes and service cuts are the only way for the NDP to even think about balancing the budget by 2027 as promised.

Manitobans already know their property taxes are going up substantially in 2025, along with the gas tax. And this month, Manitobans learned that the NDP have launched large cuts to the healthcare system.

So, which taxes will be hiked and which services will be cut next to pay for the NDP’s spectacular failures?

A 23% tax hike sounds like a bad April Fool’s gag—but it’s no joke.

From farm to truck to dinner table, today’s NDP-Trudeau carbon tax hike will be felt across every Manitoba household and industry.
