Phil. First, how was your trip to Philly? Did you get a chance to get any good eating in? I know it was a business trip.Ā
Next order of business.Ā This video hit a soft and sore spot. I've been the target just like this man since childhood.Ā When you like nice things and those folks think that you shouldnāt like nice things or you shouldnāt have nice things, they make comments, stare, and they make comments similar to the one like you stated.Ā They say certain things.Ā Why? Because you like nice things.Ā As aĀ child my grandmother or parents would take me shopping in the department stores and they didnāt like that. We would go out to their neighborhoods and they didnāt like that. They would make comments like āmay I help you?ā 10,000 times. In fact I just got targeted recently on January 5, 2024 at an herbal store in Philadelphia.
I can't tell you how many times I have been racially profiled as a Black woman in Philadelphia because of the type of car that I was driving. Because they didnāt think I should be driving that type of car. The cars were not the current year of car but they were foreign cars and not the typical car that a Black woman would drive. Ā
I was always getting pulled over, stopped and given a ticket for anything. Followed around stores. I donāt care what kind of store it was.Ā
I donāt think that we should have to take the crumbs because they think we should take the crumbs.Ā
How doĀ they know that man couldāve been saving the whole year of 2023 as his goal for a ticket to the Denver Nuggets game or someone could have gifted him the ticket.Ā Ā
Or maybe he always did sit in the nosebleed section and said to himself Iām going to get a Denver Nuggets court side seat and this is what Iām going to do. This could have been his 2023 goal to get these tickets and go sit courtsideĀ Ā
That man could have been an Internet entrepreneur. They donāt know everyĀ successful Internet entrepreneur.Ā
know every successful businessman. They donāt know what his status is but because they think that they should be the only ones that have anything nice. This hit a sore spot and a soft spot so I understand where this man is coming from.Ā
He is a better man than I am a woman because I wouldnāt have told that guy that he was going viral. It would haveĀ been lights, camera, action, and I just wouldāve posted.
