Many years ago, I would have said that you’d never see a Miele on this channel. But here we are!
Quick intro about Delivery for the people who don’t follow me on Instagram:
First contacted Miele to purchase the machine as I had a few concerns about delivery. Managed to purchase the machine with a 20% discount for a price that was the same as a mid-tier machine for a top-tier, was absolutely buzzing! There were a few complications upon delivery, the delivery men kind of brought it in and they were like; “This is 100 kilos, it’s the heaviest machine they have ever delivered”. They struggled so much due to its weight, having to bring it down a set of stairs and due to the way they brought it down (on its back? 😢) a clip fell off and pierced the drain pipe. I managed to get a replacement from Miele and swapped the faulty one to the new one and I successfully installed it.
The machine has a wide range of cycles, 27 to be exact! To this day I still haven’t completed them all. My most favourite cycles are Minimum Iron, QuickPowerWash, Cotton/Cottons Hygiene, Pillows, Sportswear and Down Duvets. All cycles have great customization options, including a wide range of temperatures; most allow up to 60°C, unlike other brands that often limit you to 40°C.
🧺 In Cycle Options:
💠Quick allows for the cycle to be completed quicker although you do sacrifice a bit of rinsing performance slightly.
💠Water+ is configurable in the settings of the machine and can be used if PowerWash 2.0 isn’t your thing. It allows; Normal, +1, +2, +3. And they do make a big difference! In programming mode, you can set it so if you select Water+ on this specific model you can add an extra rinse as well.
💠Extra Rinse allows 1 additional rinse
💠SingleWash allows a 1kg load to be washed in under an hour (even at 90°C!). Uses PowerWash 2.0.
💠Pre-ironing allows a steam phase at the end of the cycle to smooth out any creases. Limits the spin to 900RPM.
💠Pre-wash allows a separate wash before the main wash for items that are heavily soiled.
💠Soak allows between 30 minutes to 6 hours, tumbles every 10 minutes to make sure that all items are soaked equally, also uses the jet when it does.
💠Intensive allows a more intensive wash rhythm and a longer wash cycle.
💠AllergoWash allows a steam phase at the end of the first intermediate spin and adds an extra rinse automatically.
💠Extra gentle allows for a gentler wash rhythm.
💠Extra quiet machine completes the cycle as quiet as possible. I haven’t tried this yet but I assume it cancels the spins and does rinse hold.
💠Rinse Hold allows the items to stay in the last rinse without draining.
🧺PowerWash 2.0:
I think this is a clever innovation that manages to save resources while maintaining high washing performance! I have found that if you select Water+, Intensive, Pre-wash or the temperature is higher than 75 °C it will not use PowerWash 2.0 (Although I think they have updated it to use higher temps). However, leaving additional options off PowerWash 2.0 will be used with these selected cycles: Cotton, Eco 40-60, Minimum Iron, Shirts, Automatic Plus, Delicates and Cotton Standard Eco (Cotton Arrow). It works by using slightly more water than the laundry can absorb. Water fills under the drum, and the jet then drenches the load. It also performs a few spins at the start of the cycle; extracted water is sprayed back into the laundry, refilling and repeating until it reaches the required level. During the main wash, if the load is small or medium, there will be no visible water in the drum, but the jet keeps the laundry saturated. The performance is impressive considering how much water and electricity you save.
🧺PW2.0 Cons: Occasionally, it might run until the pump is dry and hesitate to self-top up, though it does eventually refill itself.
🧺Overall Build Quality:
The build quality is amazing! MADE IN GERMANY! Although I’ve heard it might not be the 'old-school' Miele quality, comparing this to an LG made in China or a Samsung made in Poland, it is definitely better! For today’s standards, the build quality is excellent. It features a stainless-steel outer tub, whereas brands like LG, Samsung, and Bosch use plastic. It also has a splittable tub, meaning bearing or spider repairs will be much easier than they would be with a sealed unit which is a massive positive for me! The drum LED is a great touch and it’s nice and bright and fades on and off. The counter-weights are made out of cast iron compared to other brands which are concrete. Has 2 jets, clean water intake and a re-circulation jet (also used for PW2.0).
🧺Build Quality Cons: As I stated before, the drain pipe was pierced upon arrival. The delivery men managed to damage it while bringing it down, which means the material isn't as durable as I’d hoped it would be. I had an issue where while it was disconnected from Wi-Fi for a few months due to all machines being underground, I noticed the Drum LED would flicker at random time periods while it was off. But once the Wi-Fi was fixed, I noticed it didn’t do it since (strange!). Shock absorbers can be a little soft but they do really well! I have had an issue where the touchscreen had become unresponsive, resulting me into unplugging the machine and plugging it back in. Doesn’t do this often thank God!
🧺Washing Performance:
Outstanding! Whatever you set it, it does *cough cough LG*. You set 40°C it does 40°C, 60°C does 60°C etc. Even with SingleWash! I always use soak for my whites, the fact you can set any time in 30-minute increments is brilliant. It heats to ~30°C while soaking and maintains it if you select an hour or longer. Cycle lengths are good Cotton 40°C is 2 hours 39 minutes. Selecting quick brings that down to 1 hour and 14 minutes for a full load. You do compromise slightly on rinsing. Maintains temperature through-out the main wash for excellent wash results. Cottons Hygiene does allow for the additional extended time for anything that needs to be hygienically washed. The fact it can do spin washes too and when tumbling it goes from slow to fast and back down again which is amazing to see 😂
🧺Washing Performance Cons: No matter the amount of detergent you add, it can foam up.
🧺Rinsing Performance
It does a very good job at rinsing. Deep level rinses are a massive bonus. You can almost have deep rinses on all cycles. For the main rinses it fills using the clean water intake jet while the final rinse is done through the drawer at first for softener if you use it then the remaining is done through the other jet.
🧺Rinsing Performance Cons: If not in the main wash, it can sometimes foam up during the rinsing. But even when this happens, I feel like it still rinses well. No one has had any allergy issues over this (4 people with allergies).
🧺Spinning Performance
Outstanding! The intermediate spins are 1200 RPM, similar to the LGs. The final spin performance is very good! Near to the end of the spin it will slow down to roughly 800/900 RPM for 1 minute then back up to 1600. I am guessing this is for any residual water on the glass or on the outer tub that can’t be drained due to the excessive force of the 1600 spin. They do come out a lot drier than a 1400 spin and I can tell because the dryer is taking approximately 30 minutes less time to complete.
🧺Spinning Performance Cons: It will normally do 1200 intermediate spins if it is balanced enough. If not, it will limit to 800/900 RPM. Same with the final spin, it won’t do the full 1600 if it is unbalanced.
🧺TwinDos
I am unfortunately unable to give a proper use opinion on TwinDos as I have it disabled. However, just like any other auto dosing systems, it automatically doses your detergents using Ultra Phase 1 & 2. Ultra Phase 1 is detergent and Ultra Phase 2 is oxygen bleach for whites. You set both compartments in milliliters during setup and you can alter this in the settings menu. Miele also has different types of detergent for TwinDos, especially for people who have sensitive skin or allergies.
🧺TwinDos Cons: The reason why I chose to have this system disabled are because it has the tendency to leak! It is apparently more common with the Ultra Phase 2 due to the harsh chemicals which can corrode the tubing inside the machine causing devastating irreparable damage to the base of the machine. The detergents can be expensive depending on who you ask.
🧺CapDosing
I am unfortunately unable to give a proper use opinion on CapDosing as I haven’t tried it yet! However, you have 3 different types of capsules; fabric care such as fabric softener and proofing agent, additives such as detergent enhancers, detergent for main wash only. When using a certain type of CapDosing, PowerWash 2.0 is disabled.
🧺CapDosing Cons: Expensive for what they are, 1 cap per load, not reusable.
