Young people and cancer
Bowel cancer is more usual in older people. But it is growing in younger adults under 50.
In England, cases are going up by 3.6% every year. Experts think that this happens because of bad food, being overweight, and not moving enough. They are still studying why this is happening. Better testing and genetics can be part of the problem, too.
If you feel unwell, it is good to see a doctor early. You may feel different when you go to the toilet. You may get slim without trying. You may be very tired. If doctors catch cancer early, they can help you stop it.
Difficult words: bowel (the long tube through which food travels from the stomach out of the body), case (when something happens), overweight (fat).

Russia stops sending gas to Austria.
Austria’s biggest gas company, OMV, says that Russia does not send enough gas. They want Russia to pay money because of this. But Austria says it has enough gas in storage for now. Russia still sends gas to some countries in Europe through Ukraine. But Ukraine will stop this at the end of the year. Some countries, like Slovakia, are asking for more gas.
Before the war in Ukraine, Russia sells a lot of gas to Europe. Now, countries like Germany get gas from other countries, like Norway and the US.
Difficult words:
- gas (fuel for energy),
- storage (a place to keep something to use later).

"Have/get cold feet" is an idiom in English that means to become nervous or lose confidence about doing something, especially at the last minute. It often refers to situations where someone is hesitant or afraid to follow through with a decision or plan.
Examples:
1.I wanted to go skydiving, but I got cold feet at the last moment.
(You were excited at first, but then fear stopped you from doing it.)
2.She had planned to get married next month, but she’s getting cold feet now.
(She is starting to doubt or feel nervous about her decision to get married.)
3.I was going to apply for the job, but I had cold feet and didn’t send the application.
(You lost your courage to apply for the job at the last moment.)
