Waking up this morning, I can’t shake this feeling.. I’m beyond disappointed, but not surprised. Watching the results unfold last night was tough, but I knew deep down that things wouldn’t turn out as I had hoped. There’s something so unsettling about realizing that, as a society, so many of us still cling to ignorance, whether by choice or by habit, especially when it comes to issues that truly matter.
Here’s the truth I’ve come to accept: no one’s riding in on a white horse to “save” the American people. No policy or politician is going to suddenly transform things. We are our own worst enemies, and it’s painfully clear. I’ve watched enough over the past decade to know for sure that Trump isn’t it. Seeing the same patterns repeat over and over again makes me wonder if we’re even willing to step out of the cycles that keep us divided and in conflict.
This year has been one of the strangest, most enlightening ones I can remember. So much has been revealed, and not all of it is easy to sit with. But in moments like these, I’m reminded of Donnie McClurkin’s words to “stand.” So, I’m choosing to do just that—standing, watching, and waiting. Now isn’t the time to check out; it’s a time to stay on guard, aware, and engaged.
Despite everything, I pray for our leaders…yes, Trump and Vance included. My faith reminds me that there’s a God who sits high, looks low, and never slumbers. It’s a comfort to remember that, even in the chaos, all things work together for the good of those who love Him. It’s this faith that keeps me grounded, reminding me that hope and resilience are choices we make, especially when the world feels heavy.
