I make videos based off the ABC show ā€œThe Rookieā€ featuring Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, Melissa O’Neil as Lucy Chen, Eric Winter as Tim Bradford and many more.

I fell in love with the show when Season 7 started, and I binged it all in just a few weeks. I want to make content based around it since there really isn’t much out there

My Season 8 Episode 18 "The Bandit" REVIEW and THOUGHTS

SPOILERS AHEAD
.
.
.
.
I’m writing this as I am watching it live.

Okay, I know I’ve said The Rookie has jumped the shark many times throughout the last few seasons. I’ve always thought that after S6E10 and S8E1, they’d never be able to find a way to jump the shark further…

But they did! YAY! 😃😃😃😃😃

But in all seriousness, what the hell is going on?! A helicopter with a giant magnet? Come on now. And why are LAPD cops on this mission that 100% should’ve been left to the FBI? And Bailey came along for WHAT?! The military didn’t go on this excursion, so why should she? They’re just putting her in anything nowadays.

Wesley getting involved in Everett’s case the way he did was also… a choice. And why did they make him and Tim so hostile to each other? They’ve been friends for years, so it makes no sense for them to rock the boat with all of Wesley’s relationships like this; first with Angela and now with Tim. And he’s loaded and doesn’t care about money much, so money shouldn’t have been an object in all of this.

(Editing after getting to the Lopez part: okay we’re good now lol)

I will say, I did like the actual excursion though. I think them not adding much music to this part of the episode was a good choice, and the music they did choose was very fitting.

The Nolan in the Trans Am sequence was badass as hell too, I gotta give it that lol

I also was scared for Miles for a second earlier on in the episode but then thought ā€œthey just made him a main character this season. They’re not getting rid of him THAT quickly.ā€ And I’m glad I was right.

AND FINALLY, I HAVE TO MENTION THE ENDING. WHY CAN’T WE EVER HAVE ONE NICE THING WITHOUT BEING INTERRUPTED BY SOME STUPID CRAP? They couldn’t wait until the Season 9 premiere? They couldn’t let us have ONE MOMENT? Soured the whole proposal for me. I was actually excited to be wrong about the timeline and to see the proposal. It was so cute and then… all of it was gone.

You can’t do something like this on a season finale. I bet people had to have the same feeling when Under Siege came out 3 years back. I hadn’t discovered the show yet so didn’t watch it live to have that same impact. But I think this along killed this episode further than it already was heading down for me.

Before the proposal, I was ready to give this episode a C rating. Then, during the proposal, I was ready to bump it up to a B. But the ending 30 seconds put it down to D tier for me. And it’s so unfortunate too. Because I know people were looking forward to this, and now we’re stuck with this for 8 months. They definitely screwed up with this one.

Monica's death was more emotionally impactful and shocking than Jackson's.

My Season 8 Episode 17 "Dead Ringer" REVIEW and THOUGHTS

SPOILERS AHEAD
.
.
.
.
Firstly, I'm sorry for not reviewing Episodes 14 and 16. Let me address that first. I watched 14 and then went to make food, came back and forgot 90% of what happened, so I decided not to review it. And with Episode 16, I just didn't feel like it, just being totally honest lol.

But this one deserves an IMMEDIATE review.

I was wondering if they would EVER kill another big character off again in the show... and they DID IT!!!! I seriously can't believe Monica's dead now. And it's completely changing what video I'm releasing next. I see why it's called "Dead Ringer" now I suppose! I will say, I love the way they ended Monica's story. Her and Wesley's last moments were INSANE, and they were incredibly emotional. If they were gonna kill her off, this was the best way they could've done it. Props to the show for doing it this way.

Next up, AARON!!! I really hope they're reintegrating him more into the show. I don't even mind if he's not a main character anymore, but if he can appear at least 2-3 times per season, I can be a happy man. (But please Alexi, make him a main again, please please please please). The plotline involving him getting car and watch jacked was good, and I think it was VERY solid for a B-plot, even if it looked like the A-plot.

I just know that Liam's boutta do some absolutely unhinged and crazy stuff in the VERY near future, if not the finale episode. And I have a theory it'll be involving Bailey, but I can't 100% be certain about that. I'm glad that Miranda came to her senses to come back to the courthouse. Let's see how that continues!

And now I gotta talk about the proposal and Celina phone stuff. That was a really fun C-plot they kept coming back to throughout the episode to break the insanity that this episode was! I feel like the proposal is also gonna be in the finale (which is another theory of mine that aged like milk lol). It'll be cute though. And Rodge and Celina FINALLY looking like a couple is something I'm excited about too. Zander's starting to fit into the role more and more, so maybe his integration won't be too bad for the show after all.

Overall, it feels like I'm summarizing my feelings a lot just to prevent myself from typing for 2 hours, but I think this is the second best episode in the season, and it's now probably somewhere between my 5th-8th best episode in the show. I'll probably work that out later. But S Tier episode all the way, right under The Red Place for the season.

My first 20+ minute video in a LONG TIME is coming this weekend!

I'm looking to experiment with some longer-form content, rather than making 10-12 minute videos with shorts on the side. You'll have to let me know if you guys enjoy that more when the video drops!

My Season 8 Episode 15 ā€œSurvive The Streets" REVIEW (Tipsy Edition!!!)

SPOILERS AHEAD
.
.
.
.
So we’ve got another documentary episode, despite how much of a terrible reception the previous one had. And it also had Abigail in it, despite, again, how much of a terrible reception the previous one had.

While I’m very confused on the creative decision of this episode, I also can say that this definitely is not the worst of the documentary episodes. Far from it. I’d say it’s the second best one out of the 5, behind Double Trouble.

I enjoyed the amount of Lopez screentime this episode, as well as the Nolan/Celina duo throughout the episode.

The callback to Rich is awesome, and I think that this was a great way to tie things together within the universe.

Dropout wasn’t the worst in this episode either. It was better and less obnoxious than their first appearance a couple of months ago.

HOWEVER, I think this episode just continued to spin the dagger in what I consider the death of Abigail’s character. They completely took away any care I had for her character, and now she’s just became ā€œthe documentary girl to meā€, completely overtaking her great role in the first few seasons. And honestly, with how much that disappoints me, that takes this episode down a lot more for me.

Overall, while I still am on the ā€œstop the documentary episodesā€ team, this one was far from the worst. I give it a D tier.

By the way, one other update:

I’m gonna be taking a small break from shorts for the next few weeks. My editor’s coming to visit me IRL so I’m trying to give him less work leading up to it so he isn’t stressed out lol.

I’ll have my review post for Episode 15 out later tonight
