The Atlantic & Capital Railroad is a DMV heritage line that runs from Ocean City into Alexandria, Virginia (with Diesels using the Camden route to Virginia). The terminus for the locomotives to rest and live at is in Laurel, near the Laurel Racetrack. This will serve the works, yards and roundhouse. Branches to the Port of Baltimore, Bowie, Pope Creek, etc, also serve and are part of this line. The Laurel terminus goes around Murkirk (it head's to Muirkirk in a wye) before joining Greenbelt, so it’s basically a loop line here, which splits off at the Bowie branch to connect with the Pope Creek branch. The fleet is a mix of steam, diesel and electric. This was a collaborative effort with CSX, B&O Museum and others with the main owner named Henry Reaid who was always fascinated with trains.
The project first started in the early-late 70s. In 1984 that's when laying down everything began. They built a small workshop during this time. The Laurel Hub to the soon to be port junction is built first and opened between 1990-92, while the rest into Ocean City is in development in 1990 or 1992. The Branchlines (some like the Baltimore port and Bowie to Pope) are already possibly connected. The Ocean City route is finished around the 2000s probably 2008-10 with a bay bridge tunnel channel with collaborative efforts since it would be prestige to CSX and other lines. Many engines were also discovered and restored between 1979-2008.
The line would start at Laurel near the old racetrack and golf course. There the junction to Greenbelt shows up first and then the line passes the junction and head down the stretch to the Penn line to connect with the (now acquired) Pope Creek Subdivision. Before getting off to the Penn line there's a junction that goes down to Port Covington running along the Penn line. This line is the Patuxent Gateway. Then there's the major route. Annapolis junction was restored to run along the eastern shore to Salisbury. At the bay of chesepeake the line crosses with a bridge and tunnel before emerging to the Ocean City islands into Salisbury.
I made a timeline too which is in the document. I'll likely posted later though.
A re-edit version of Thomas' Odyssey chapter 1 is underway unfortunately. I can't help but leave it pixelated because it came like that when recording.
