Just wanted to share a big moment for me with you guys - the study I've been working on for over a year is finally done! Even though the study result wasn't what I was expecting, and even challenges some of the recommendations I've made in the past, this is what's science is all about. To continue building on the research we have, questioning what we don't, and refining our stance as we get more pieces to the puzzle.

I've wanted to be part of actually executing research ever since I started my channel. So the fact that I was able to help fund, design, and run a study on a topic that I felt was a huge gap in the fitness industry is unreal. The pre-print has been submitted and is awaiting final peer review before publication.

It wouldn't be possible without you guys. So thank YOU for your support throughout the years as well as everyone who has joined our fitness app! We take a portion of our app's profits and put it towards funding research projects like this.

We still have our 20% off Black Friday deal live for 1 more day so if you'd like all your workouts + nutrition taken care of for you, as well as the opportunity to help push the field forward, you can sign up here: bws.plus/yt-bf1 .

Also, if you haven't already, you can watch the full YouTube video breaking down the study results here: https://youtu.be/HJHeGGSp1tQ

Thanks again everyone! Cheers to science!

I just helped publish my first scientific study!

May not seem like a big deal, but 7 years ago when I first started making YouTube videos I (nervously) sent a cold email to Dr. Brad Schoenfeld, a well known fitness scientist to see if he’d be open to an interview for the channel. He’s someone I highly respected in the space and I had read pretty much every single study he’d ever published. I had no doubt in my mind he wouldn’t even respond. But the next day, he got right back to me and accepted the request. Here's the video we ended up making: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EspBP... .

Crazy that 7 years later, I've just funded and helped design and publish a study with him. Being part of conducting fitness research has always been my dream, and while it’s a lot more work than people realize, I’m grateful that I now have the opportunity to do just that.

I’ve got another BIG study wrapping up I've been working on for the past year. I’ll release the results of it soon. Stay tuned! And thank YOU guys for making this all possible!

P.S. - here's a link to read the new study (the pre-print of it) if you're interested. It'll be officially published after peer-review: sportrxiv.org/index.php/server/preprint/view/564

After almost 10 years together, married the love of my life and the most incredible woman in the world ❤️.

Helped fund 2 studies to continue pushing the fitness field forward. One with the help of Bret Contreras at my local University (University of British Columbia), and the other at Dr. Brad Schoenfeld's lab. Can't wait to share the results!

And, launched our brand new BWS+ app that we had been working on for years!
.
2024 has been incredible in many aspects. Feeling truly blessed. Here’s to continued growth in 2025! 🙏 Happy new year everyone!!

Just wanted to share with you guys a big moment in my fitness journey! I’m proud to announce that starting in September, I’ll be personally funding and helping run a unique study at the University of British Columbia. It’s a project I’ve been working on behind the scenes for the past 6 months. The main goal of the study is to investigate if challenging your muscles in their stretched position leads to more growth - an area of research I’ve become fascinated with.
.
We’re using 3 custom machines, which by the switch of a pin, can make the exact same exercise more difficult in the beginning (during the stretch) or in the end (when the muscle is less stretched). We’ll be testing the chest, shoulders, and glutes - 3 of the most understudied muscles because of the high cost of using MRI for proper measurement. In my latest YouTube video I explain the study protocol and the science behind it in more depth: https://youtu.be/r7cWHoT8aaQ
.
It’s a massive project to take on, but it’ll help shape how we workout and the exercises we choose to maximize our results. Science has done so much for me and my channel, so getting involved in advancing the field is the least I can do to give back.
.
I’ll share more details and give some updates once the study is on its way. But I’m excited for this next chapter and being able to give back to a field that has brought so much to me! For science! 🙏
