Poonamallee bypass - Vadapalani metro service ready for inauguration after final round of CCRS inspection conducted on May 23 rd & 24th, 2026.
Now Poonamallee - Vadapalani stretch metro train service can be operated at 10 minutes frequency.
The maximum speed from Porur to Vadapalani is 40 kmph (non stop service between Porur to Vadapalani ). Poonamallee bypass to Porur stretch can be operated at maximum speed.
CMRL already communicated to the State government regarding recent approval & opening of Phase 2 metro. The Tamilnadu government has to decide about the inauguration date

Looks like the next set of MTC electric buses will operate from the Alandur depot.Electric depot infrastructure work in progress.
MTC MD visited Alandur depot for inspection
So we can expect more electric buses to operate on the GST road soon. ( Example 21G, 500P, E18 and a few more routes)
