So there's a Christmas tradition in the UK of dousing the desert (Christmas pudding) in brandy and setting it on fire. And from a few comments I've had on my most recent video, it seems like you sometimes get a traveling flame around the pudding. I found this video for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cGFi... I'll be trying this next Christmas.

In my golf ball paradox video I asked people to come up with an intuitive explanation where I wasn't able to. I really like this one from@danthewalsh https://youtu.be/4er2buINHF0

This is Michael. He sent me this GIF out of the blue last year and for some reason I responded. It turns out he's building something that I think is a really good idea. And he seems like a good egg. So when he asked for my advice I said yes!
Michael's vision is for every YouTube video to have a game-like quiz with it. It's a more effective way of learning from YouTube videos because it's active instead of passive. The service is called Retainit.
There's a lot of evidence that testing yourself helps you to retain new concepts (or to put it more negatively, it's very easy to forget what you've learned after passively watching something without actively engaging with it. It's why I've watched so many 3B1B videos more than once!).
A few months ago I posted a Retainit quiz for my assassin's teapot video, and the response was really positive.
Today, the waitlist for Retainit's mobile app is officially open. The app allows you to generate a quiz for any YouTube video and it's built to feel like a game.
If that sounds interesting and you'd be happy to give feedback while they polish the product, they've reserved 1000 spots for my subscribers. Be aware that it's in alpha so some things will be broken. Don't hold back on the feedback!

I was so excited for this collaboration and it exceeded all my wildest expectations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4l16z...
Some of those transitions were sloppy as hell though. Come on guys.

There seemed to be a problem with the audio on the video I just uploaded. So I've taken it down. Was not a problem for me on any of my devices so not sure what's going on. But for many people the audio just cut out! Will hopefully have a fixed version soon.
EDIT: So anyone listening in mono was having a bad time. Not a youtube processing issue - when I played the exported file on my PC and witched my PC to mono I had the same problem. So it was an issue with the way premiere was rendering those clips.

Who likes quizzes?
Well. I’ve been advising this start-up called Retainit because I really like the concept. Basically, they generate quizzes for educational videos. There's a lot of evidence that quizzes help you to retain new concepts.
It’s in beta so some things will be broken! Honest feedback is very welcome (you can comment on this post but best to feedback directly to the Retainit team).
Try it out on my Assassin’s Teapot video: beta.retainit.app/embed/quiz/teapot?ref=stevemould

I'm currently testing a Discord bot called Glysn that tries to discern the topics that people are talking about in the comments of my youtube videos. For example:
TOPIC FROM MY VIDEO ABOUT SMART WATCHES: Transparent bones
Example of a comment 👇
“Wait are bones transparent to infrared light?” - kimmy_future
I'm interested to see if it sparks discussion on the discord server. If you're interested head over there and have a look: discord.gg/ASQHQANf8H
P.S thanks @kimmy_future4265 for the comment!
