Just some tea drinking, crazy game dev mentalist.

🚨 New video out now! πŸ₯³

Game Dev devlogs talk about how they make games, but they hardly touch on how they make their indie games safe to play from security vulnerabilities.

Multiplayer games can be susceptible to hackers, remote code execution and other malicious acts if indie game developers aren't careful about how they develop their game and follow best practices. It's a common misunderstanding that this only affects multiplayer games - in fact, it also affects singleplayer indie games too.

In this video, we discuss Unity's 2025 RCE security vulnerability, how to fix it, the responsibilities of the game developer, how singleplayer games can be affected (not just multiplayer games), the responsibilities of players, and why it's important to keep your game's experience safe for others to safely enjoy.

I want to give you guys more of a choice about the BTS breakdowns over on Patreon!

If you don't know what the Game BTS are, they're written breakdowns of various workflows, features, systems and more that I've worked on during my game's development, or during the development of other things!

I've chosen the first two, but there might be some that you specifically want to learn about - so here's your chance!

🎬 New Video out now! 🚨

I made a simple mistake in my game… and it completely broke everything.

In this devlog, I explain how scale in game development can silently ruin your game, affecting lighting, shadows, physics, and performance, and how to fix it in Godot, Unity, Unreal Engine or other game engines.

We discuss:

- Game scale, model scale and world units explained
- Why incorrect scale breaks lighting and shadow cascades
- Physics issues caused by bad scale (gravity, speed, collisions)
- Floating point precision problems in large worlds
- How to fix scale in Godot (and other engines)
- Best practices for setting scale correctly from the start

Whether you're using Godot, Unity, Unreal Engine or C#, understanding scale is essential for building stable and realistic games.

If your game feels β€œoff”, looks wrong, or behaves strangely… this might be why.

Hi all! Just a very quick one to update you on the channel and where I've been πŸ‘€

Recently, a family member was rushed to the hospital with Sepsis. (I reckon I've had my fill of hospitals for this year already). Long story short - after almost two weeks, we're in the clear and they're back home and recovering. It was a bit touch-and-go for a hot minute and so my mind, naturally, shifted from the channel and game development to the situation. Thankfully, all is heading in a positive direction now πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

I now feel I'm in a position again to be able to focus back on the channel and game development ✨

I've been working on the script for the next video in the background before it all kicked off and am excited to get back to it... even if the reason for this video tormented the development of my game for a good few days (it's gonna be an important one for those game devs out there - so look forward to that!).

This month's Game Dev BTS is also releasing later today for Patreon members - an explanation of my Scenic Camera System as seen in some of my videos. If that's something you're interested in, check it out! The last one was about my Shop System, which you can read right now!

That's it for the update - just a quick one and to say thanks for your patience and support as always - it always means a lot β™₯οΈπŸ™πŸΌ

🎬 Another Unity reality check is out now!🚨

Unity announced its Unity AI will be shown off at GDC 2026, where casual games can be created through AI prompts only. No code necessary from the game developer - only natural language as input. One of the first game engines to do so.

Unity notes it intends to lead the push towards an AI-centred world of Game Development - but what this actually means for game development, players and the game industry has not been talked about... until now.

This is not a video bashing the anti-AI playbook. It's a conversation about the bigger picture of Unity AI, AI tooling, video game market saturation, visibility of video games, business models built on bad faith and, for many developers, game development becoming unsustainable.

Where AI tools are seen as productivity boosters and even less actually do so, the greater effect of generating entire games with AI has on the industry is one we need to talk about.

🎬 New video out now! 🚨

I built a Twitch Chat integration in Godot 4.6 (.NET / C#), allowing viewers to spawn into my game world as DUCKS during live streams.

In this devlog, I show how I created a dependency-free Twitch API integration from scratch using Twitch EventSub, WebSockets, OAuth 2.0 (Device Code Flow), and an event-driven architecture designed specifically for game engines.

I tried to create a lightweight, engine-agnostic Twitch integration library built for game developers who want a plug-and-play approach to real-time Twitch chat interaction inside their games.

If you've ever wanted chaos - this one is for you.

Hey guys πŸ‘‹πŸ» hope you're all having a good start to the week!

Just a quick update to let you all know I'm working hard on the next video, but it's taking a little bit longer than I expected. I wanted to release it last Friday, but I've sadly had to focus on other priorities over the last two weeks.

We're going back to the usual dev infotainment content with this one which I'm super excited to share with you. It's also a bit meaty tech info-wise, so wanted to spend a bit more time balancing it properly.

In other news, an older family member also decided to yeet themselves and break a hip (for fun I think... but didn't seem right to ask at the time) - they're all good now and joking around, but I wanted to step back for a hot minute and give them some company.
For those wondering: it is indeed very difficult to get a video game, in which you are trapped, into a hospital. And no, they did not help with the giant butterfly problem πŸ¦‹

All that said, I'm aiming to release the new video this Friday so I hope you look forward to it! 🎬

As always, thank you all for your support and understanding - I appreciate it more than you know! ❀️
