Inner Visions is a 10” x 10” pencil drawing I created, a deeply personal and symbolic work inspired by the transformative teachings of Neville Goddard, who emphasized the divine creative power of imagination. In this intricate drawing, I explore the tension between inner vision and outer experience—the push and pull between the unseen reality of the mind and the often conflicting evidence of the senses.
The central theme of the artwork revolves around the concept that imagination is not merely a mental escape, but a generative force that precedes physical manifestation. Goddard teaches that by assuming the feeling of the wish fulfilled—living inwardly as if our desire has already come to pass—we cause reality to reorganize itself around that assumption. My piece visualizes this principle through a dreamlike composition filled with surreal architectures, mythical figures, organic structures, and mechanical beings.
The juxtaposition of sacred femininity, represented by the goddess-like figure at the lower left, with industrial and biomorphic forms, reflects the convergence of spiritual insight with mechanized thought. The floating buildings and sentient machines echo the idea of consciousness constructing environments—our beliefs quite literally shaping the world around us. The pipes, tendrils, and roots that weave through the image symbolize the complex interconnectedness of the subconscious and conscious minds.
At the top, a wise elder looks on, a possible stand-in for the higher self or divine observer, while a robotic character with human features suggests the merging of humanity and imagination-driven intelligence. Despite the chaos, there’s a sense of harmony within the surreal complexity—an affirmation that we are not at the mercy of external circumstances but are empowered creators of our own experience.
Inner Visions is a meditation on the inner creative faculty and a reminder that the universe we experience begins within.
