Merchant ID Unfreeze Order Granted by Rajasthan High Court

Another important relief in a Merchant ID / Paytm Merchant Account freeze matter.

In this case, the petitioner’s Paytm Merchant Account / MMID was affected due to a cyber complaint. The Hon’ble Rajasthan High Court, Jodhpur directed that only the disputed amount should be kept under lien, and the petitioner must be allowed to make and receive transactions from the merchant account.

This order is very important for merchants, petrol pump owners, shopkeepers, traders and business owners whose Merchant ID, QR Code, Payment Gateway, MID, Current Account or Bank Account gets blocked due to cyber crime investigation.

✅ Legal point:
Investigation cannot become business punishment.
If there is a disputed transaction, then only the disputed amount should be marked as lien — the entire merchant account should not be blocked.

This order again strengthens the principle that genuine businesses should not be forced to suffer complete financial shutdown because of one disputed transaction.
