Painting these 1/32 scale Musketeers has been a fun change of pace this week. The box contains four sets of four unique figures (16 in total) so I decided I might as well paint one of each. 🤘
Hey, so I painted another Musketeer (right) with a bit more contrast and wanted to share the comparison with you all. I spent about 2.5 hours on the left figure (with the sword) and about 3 on the right figure. I’m not sure which sock color I like more, the grey or the blue.
I like when my figures have a focal point (like the face) and the rest of the piece is toned down. Looking at the new figure I think the contrast in the socks is too bright and draws a lot of attention. Perhaps too much. I’d prefer the emphasis be on the face, but this is just my thought process at the moment.
Someone, I forget who, requested that I paint a musketeer and I had just so happened to find one at my local hobby store that is closing. Here’s the progress from a few hours of painting this afternoon. I’ll share a Short soon 🤘

In this battle the Union have engaged the Confederacy in a small skirmish outside a destroyed farmhouse somewhere in the country.
The Confederates outnumber the Union soldiers, but they’re low on ammo and disorganized. They need to overrun the position before the boys in blue are reinforced with a batch of fresh infantry and a fully primed cannon.

I hope it’s obvious this is not meant to be historically accurate. Just a bit of fun. Setting up scenes like this is a great way to clear my head after a very busy week. It’s very meditative.
My local hobby store, AAA Hobbies, in Magnolia, NJ is going out of business and they have had some crazy good sales (up to 75% off!). I loved visiting the store every month to get new paints or something special to paint. They will be sorely missed.

If you’re into 1/32 toy soldier collecting you should check out Paul’s weekly Live show (Tuesdays at 8pm est) where he has guest collectors call in to talk toys, and show off their collections! He’s had some amazing guests on the show in the past, many of them small business owners. I’ve learned a lot about the history and hobby of toy collecting by just listening to Paul and his panel of regular guests talk toys for an hour every Tuesday. I’ve even been on the show a couple times 🤘
First time painting anything Civil War themed. This was sent to me by ‪@paulknappcollections‬ who runs a YouTube channel about toy solder collecting. The figure is as cheap as they come and needed a lot of flash clean up, but it has a really strong pose so I had to dive right in.
