Radio Virsa New Zealand or (RadioVirsaNZ)is a project of a group of New Zealand based Sikhs. Over time we have observed with increasing trepidation that in the name of virsa and virasat, creations of mediocre or even dubious artistic merit are being imposed on the Sikhs all over the world, and New Zealand is no exception.
We have noted that those who are being bombarded with such creations, appealing to the baser human instincts, tend to move away from Sikhi. It is our view that this is because of the fact that while Sikhi asks its followers to control (as opposed to being controlled by) Kam, Krodh, Lobh, Moh and Hankar, this post-1984 “virsa” overtly and brazenly advocates giving in to these baser human instincts. This is resulting in ever increasing distance between Sikh world view and the view propagated by what is being dished out in the name of “virsa”.
It is the aim of Radio Virsa to engage in an open and honest discussion of what is the virsa and what is the virasat of Sikhs.

ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਹੈਰਾਨੀ ਹੋਈ ਪਈ "ਹੱਦ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਇਹ ਕਿਵੇਂ" ?
ਫਿਰ "ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ" ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆ ਗਿਆ !
ਸਾਨੂੰ "ਲੰਬਾ ਜਿਉਣ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼" ਸੀ ਜਾਂ "ਡੂੰਘਾ ਜਿਉਣ ਦਾ" ?
ਜਿਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ "ਬੇਲੋੜੇ ਖਤਰੇ ਮੁੱਲ" ਲੈਣ ਦਾ ਵੱਲ ਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਨਾਂ, ਉਹ "ਆਸ਼ਾਵਾਦੀ" ਵੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ !
ਉਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ "ਖੂਹ 'ਚ ਧੱਕਾ ਵੀ ਦੇ ਦੇਵੇ, ਉੱਥੇ ਵੀ ਸਾਬਣ ਮੰਗਣ" ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ !
ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਮਨੋਵਿਗਿਆਨਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ, ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਐਹੋ-ਜਿਹੇ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ :
ਕਿ "ਸਥਿਤੀਆਂ ਅੱਤ ਦਰਜੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ, ਯੋਗਤਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਰੰਗ ਦਿਖਾ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਬਸ਼ਰਤੇ ਯੋਗਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਸਹੀ" !
ਜਿਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਦੇ "ਕੋਈ ਖਤਰਾ ਹੀ ਮੁੱਲ" ਨੀਂ ਲਿਆ" ;
"ਉਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੜਚਨ ਕਾਹਦੀ" ?
ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਉਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ "ਸੜਕ ਨਾਂ ਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ" ਦੀ ਨਸੀਹਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ !
ਕਾਰਨ ਸਾਫ਼ ਹੈ, "ਜਿਹੜੇ ਹੌਲੀ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਹਨ", ਕਿਉਂਕਿ "ਉਹ ਜਲਦੀ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਲੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਅਸਮਰਥ" ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ" ;
ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ "ਗਿਣਤੀਆਂ-ਮਿਣਤੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ, ਹਰ ਖਤਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਟਾਲ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ" !
ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ "ਨੁਕਸਾਨੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ" :
ਅਤੇ "ਲੰਬੀ ਉਮਰ ਭੋਗਦੇ" ਹਨ !
ਹੁਣ "ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਹੈ" ਤੇ "ਵਾਰੀ ਵੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਹੈ" !
ਫੈਸਲਾ ਸਾਡਾ ਆਪੋ-ਆਪਣਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ !
ਖਿਆਲ ਰੱਖਿਓ ! ਸਾਨੂੰ "ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ" ਨੇ "ਔਖੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ" ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ !
ਅੱਜ ਵੀ "Leadership ਦੀ ਮੁਢਲੀ ਟ੍ਰੇਨਿੰਗ" ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ :
ਕਿ "ਜੇ ਕੁਝ 'ਕਰਨ' ਜਾਂ 'ਨਾਂ ਕਰਨ' ਦੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ" ਤਾਂ "ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਹੀ 'ਕਰਨ' ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲ ਦੇਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ" !
