Thank you for 30k! I got my first YouTube account in 2007, at the age of 12. For my entire adolescence, "YouTuber" was the absolute peak of aspirational cool careers: the stuff of idle daydreams, and not something I ever expected to happen any more than I expected to be a rock star or a Hollywood actress.
I've been cautioned many times against getting too excited about the concept of fame for its own sake– perhaps because it's always been obvious that I DO find it very exciting. I take that advice to heart, and tomorrow I promise to carry on making content that's actually about something– not just about ME.
But for today?
Damn, this is so cool. A YouTube following is something the girl in this picture secretly dreamed of, and never in a million years thought she'd actually have.
If you liked my videos about the "Great Furry All-Mother," a vaguely mystical depiction of the common ancestor of all mammals – great news! I created this piece of art, which you can now buy on my Etsy store ( oddpride.etsy.com ) if you want to support my channel. Also, all my Patreon subscriptions now come with a 10% merch store discount, so if you need any incentive to join in on the fun...
As a #womaninthehumanities masquerading as a #womaninSTEM, this was the news story that FINALLY made me go, "damn, I actually do want to learn more about physics." Join my Patreon to see the behind-the-scenes rant I filmed part-way through the research process. 😂 www.patreon.com/OddPride

Literally just playing with the poll feature because I just discovered it. Is banana bread a fruit cake?
