It was 1yr ago today that I was hospitalized with an extreme case of necrotizing pancreatitis.
Was hospitalized for 64days before being discharged. Have had around 14 procedures in the last year the last being an open gallbladder removal surgery and common bile duct relocation on 12/1/25 (after which my surgeon explained I now have abnormal anatomy in my abdominal area due to the inflammation of the pancreas’s earlier on).
All told I think it was about 75 days hospitalized in 2025 (including the 2 ER visits for dehydration) I also lost about 90pounds total BUT have gained about 30 of those pounds back with about 30 to go to goal weight (might have needed to lose a few pounds to begin with lolol).
While I’m not yet 100% (may never be) but I will say I’m a solid 95%. Been going out to eat now, steadily gaining weight, taking walks, going out, and most importantly feeling like my old self mentally and emotionally.
I’ve been cleared to drive after getting off all my pain meds in early Jan. Took my first flights this past weekend (to go wheeling with my best friend in Moab!!!), and have even visited someone in a hospital. Nice to get over the ‘anxiety’ of those and be able to walk off the plane myself and not be wheeled out of a hospital after the doctor/nurse tells me I can leave.
It’s the little things I had to do for myself. Ya know getting back up on the horse that kicked me off type of thing.
I won’t name names other than my girlfriend Lyndsey Crabtree and my sister Cathy Werning Cole for all the support, visits, updating the rest of the family and friends etc etc etc. I could go on as there were so many people reaching out, visiting, praying, helping me with disability paperwork, visiting me at the house once I got home etc etc etc.
THANK YOU ALL FOR EVERYTHING, I truly have no words to express how grateful I am to all the people (some I didn’t even know personally) that sent cards and prayed for me.
It was a completely life changing year, not just physically but mentally and emotionally.

Saw this video posted in a FaceBook group and while hilarious it’s hilarious because ITS TRUE!!!!
I actually had a ton of these thoughts while in the hospital last year. Had been thinking of how to do a video with my thoughts (and still nightmares) but check this one out and let me know your thoughts.

So I posted the other day that I drove for the first time since March the other day and got a few comments as to why I hadn’t driven.
Short story is I had an extreme case of necrotizing pancreatitis that started on 3/21/25 and I was admitted to the hospital due 64 days, lost a ton of weight, have had 12-14 ‘surgeries’ and am finally on the road to recovery.
