A podcast came to me with 10,000 followers across TikTok and Instagram.

500 subscribers on YouTube.

Most people would look at that and say YouTube wasn't working. But that gap told a very specific story.

Here's how platform quality actually works:
100,000 followers on TikTok is worth roughly 10,000 followers on Instagram. Which is worth roughly 1,000 subscribers on YouTube.

A YouTube subscriber has chosen to come back. They trust you at a deeper level than a TikTok or Instagram audience typically will.

So when a business has 10,000 on socials and only 500 on YouTube after a year, that's not an algorithm problem.

That's an audience quality problem. And it's fixable, but only if the numbers are real.

🎥 I break down exactly why this matters and what to do about it in the video below.

He had been running YouTube Shorts for just over a year.

Between 10,000 and 24,000 views per video. Consistently. For months.

Zero clients signed.

When I ran the full avatar mapping process with him, it came back clear. His ideal client wasn't on YouTube Shorts. He was on LinkedIn.

We switched platforms. Took his short-form scripts and repurposed them into
LinkedIn threads.

Post after post hit 100,000 views. Over a million views in under 60 days.

Five clients signed in that same period.

He hadn't been producing bad content. He'd been posting it in the wrong place. That's not a content problem. That's a strategy problem.

A producer got on a call with me last year.

I was looking at their numbers. Something didn't add up.

10,000 followers on TikTok and Instagram. 500 subscribers on YouTube. The short-form views didn't match the follower count at all.

So I asked directly: how did you get those followers?

He admitted they'd bought them.

The client had spent between £16,000 and £20,000 over a year. The business shut down shortly after.

Fake data doesn't just waste money. It hides the truth for so long that by the time you see what's actually happening, there's nothing left to save.
