Male Ruffed Grouse in the middle of drumming. They do this to attract females, and to keep other males out of their territory. The sound is very reminiscent of someone trying to start an engine to a bike, lawnmower, and things like that. I've wanted for years to record the audio of it with a good mic, and finally I did ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸฆI'll share a short of it later.

Gosh, I really do love White-throated Sparrows so much. Everything about them, their beautiful song, those striking head markings, their social personalitiesโ€ฆ and especially the way many remember me year after year.

When they return each spring, some come hopping and flying toward me, or even chase me through the woodland in hopes of a treat. It has never lost its magic after all these years. ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿค๐Ÿ–ค

Hear their song, plus learn something that sets these birds apart from most...the fact they changed how they sing their song and in a very short time frame https://youtu.be/aYT5QF64LmQ

Frosty and Cresty came to the garden today, and Frosty being the ever generous and caring mate that he is, made sure Cresty was well fed. :) About Blue Jay courtship feeding https://youtu.be/uefZ9I_Eidw

It's good to be seeing some warblers again. What species have you been seeing lately, and which warbler is your favorite?๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿค๐Ÿฉถ

Mine would have to be the Yellow-rumped Warbler. I've always loved their curious nature, bold colors, and how social they can be, often moving around with several other Yellow-rumps nearby.

The birds in these photos a male Yellow-rumped Warbler, female Yellow-rumped curiously watching me,, a male Wilsonโ€™s Warblerx2 (I rarely get photos of this one), Male Yellow-rumped again and a Female Yellow-rumped Warbler showing the yellow patch on her rump where their name came from ๐Ÿฆ

Sing it sweet angel ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿค๐Ÿ–ค Everyone seems to experience the song of the White-throated Sparrow a little differently. Some hear peace, some hear loneliness, some hear the feeling of home. What does their beautiful song sound like to you? ๐Ÿฆ https://youtu.be/NtmZc3eXl0g?si=rLu3Q...

Before they can fly well, nestlings must leave their nest. ๐Ÿชบ๐Ÿชน My new video explores one of the most vulnerable stages in a birdโ€™s life. https://youtu.be/3AAfEv4MZ8Y

It's not everyday that I get to see a Belted Kingfisher (female) let alone get decent photos of one. I've been after this bird for years!! Very skittish but super fun to watch when it allows you to. ๐Ÿฆโ˜บ๏ธ
