How many times have you played with a Super Soaker and never knew the wild fight behind it? Lonnie Johnson did not just invent the coolest water blaster ever. He became the center of a decades-long legal firestorm. For over twenty years, Lonnie was paid less than he deserved while his creation made waves and buckets for big companies. But in 2013, everything changed. This inventor took his battle all the way to court, chasing the money and recognition that billion-dollar companies tried to keep hush hush. The payout? Seventy three million reasons to believe justice sometimes really wins.

This is not just a payday story. It is about standing up when you know what you’re worth. Lonnie went up against toy giants and won for every inventor who ever felt left in the shadows. He proved you cannot put a price on genius and grit. If you thought the Super Soaker was just a summer toy, get ready to see it in a totally new light. This saga is the raw, real truth behind an explosive legacy.

Is this the spark that pushes inventors everywhere to fight back? You do not want to miss the twist and win that shook the toy world.

Dear Mr President Tinubu, 40 children abducted in Borno State 46 in Oyo State, Sec 14 (b) states, "the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government."
Right now the fed govt, is making electioneering for 2027, the primary purpose of government!

In the face of nationwide insecurity a state of emergency should be declared now, only after the insecurity has been comprehensively achieved should the electioneering proceed!

Africans did you know, a large portion of the uranium used in the atomic bombs dropped on Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki came from what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Specifically, the uranium was mined from the Shinkolobwe mine in the Belgian Congo (the colony controlled by Belgium at the time). The ore there was unusually rich in uranium compared with most deposits elsewhere in the world.

During World War II, the United States secretly acquired large quantities of this uranium for the Manhattan Project. The uranium from Congo was especially important for:

* “Little Boy,” the uranium bomb dropped on Hiroshima
* and indirectly supported broader nuclear weapons development, including work related to Nagasaki.

The Congolese miners and local population generally received little recognition or benefit, despite the mine’s major role in a turning point of global history. Historians often point to this as part of the broader story of colonial extraction in Africa, where valuable resources were taken under European colonial control with minimal compensation to local people.

A few important nuances:

* The Hiroshima bomb used enriched uranium directly sourced from Congolese ore.
* The Nagasaki bomb (“Fat Man”) was plutonium-based rather than uranium-based, though Congolese uranium still contributed to the overall Manhattan Project infrastructure and reactor processes.
* Belgium and U.S. officials kept the importance of the Congo uranium highly secret during the war.

Martiniano Eliseu do Bomfim whose Yoruba name was Òjélàdé (1859-1943), was born in Bahia, Brazil. His father, originally an enslàved person from the Egba, a Yoruba sub-group, was freed in Brazil in 1842.

In 1875, at the age of 16, Martiniano traveled with his father, Eliseu do Bomfim, an import/export trader of Yoruba goods, from Salvador, Bahia to Lagos, Yorubaland, for education and apprenticeship. He attended the Church Missionary Society Alápákó Fàájì School in Lagos for nearly 11 years, becoming fluent in English and Yoruba.

He also learned Ifá, the Yoruba divination system, and became a Babalawo. Additionally, he received training as a bricklayer and house painter.

Returning to Bahia in 1886, he worked as an English teacher for affluent Afro-Brazilians. Martiniano passed away on November 1, 1943, in Salvador, Bahia. Photo: 1937.

Olabisi Ajala and Alhaja Shade: A Rare Glimpse into a Glamorous Era

This rare photograph captures Olabisi Ajala, the famed Nigerian globetrotter and adventurer, alongside his stylish and widely admired wife, Alhaja Shade Ajala, whose name once resonated across Nigerian popular culture.

Olabisi Ajala was one of Nigeria’s most celebrated travelers in the mid-20th century, renowned for his daring journeys across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas at a time when international travel was rare for Africans. His exploits were widely reported in Nigerian newspapers, making him a symbol of courage, curiosity, and modern African presence on the global stage.

Alhaja Shade Ajala, his socialite wife, became a household name in Nigeria not only because of her elegance and public persona, but also due to her immortalisation in Nigerian music.

Legendary juju musician Chief Ebenezer Obey famously sang about her in one of his records, a rare honour that reflected her popularity and cultural relevance at the time. Being mentioned in such a song elevated her status and cemented her place in Nigeria’s social memory of the era.

Together, the couple represented a blend of adventure, glamour, and cultural influence during a period when Nigeria was asserting its identity in the post-colonial world. Photographs of Olabisi Ajala and his wife are scarce, making this image an important visual record of two figures who occupied a unique space between travel, celebrity, and popular culture in Nigerian history.
