Osmosis involves the movement of water molecules across a semi-permeable membrane from an area of ​​lower solute concentration to an area of ​​higher solute concentration. In reverse osmosis, pressure is applied to the side with the higher solute concentration, forcing water molecules to move in the opposite direction—from the high-concentration side to the low-concentration side. This process allows the semi-permeable membrane to effectively remove impurities and contaminants, yielding purified water on the other side of the membrane.
