*PURUSHOTTAMA MASA: 17TH MAY - 15TH JUNE 2026*

Purushottama Masa, also known as Adhika Masa, is a highly sacred and spiritually powerful month in the Vedic calendar dedicated exclusively to Lord Sri Krsna, the Supreme Purushottama — the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This extra lunar month appears approximately *once every 3 years* to harmonize the lunar and solar calendars, making it extremely rare and auspicious.

Scriptures glorify this month as the king of all months because Lord Krsna personally accepted and blessed it with His own name — Purushottama Masa. Any spiritual practice performed during this period yields greatly multiplied spiritual benefits and helps one advance rapidly in devotion, purification, and remembrance of the Lord.

Devotees especially *engage in different vratas* like:
- Increased chanting of the Hare Krishna Mahamantra
- Daily reading of sacred scriptures
- Offering ghee lamps to the Lord
- Observing simplicity, devotion, and seva
- Deepening their connection through prayers, kirtan, bhajans and much more...

Among all spiritual observances, *chanting Bhagavad Gita Chapter 15* — Purushottama Yoga — is especially recommended during this divine month.

- Even a small devotional effort in Purushottama Masa brings immense spiritual benefit.
- Merciful Purushottam month acts like a desire tree to fulfill a devotee’s desire.
- Purushottam Month is the best of all months, vratas and austerities. Just by faithfully hearing the glories of Purushottam Month, one attains Krishna-bhakti and immediately nullifies his sinful reactions. One who performs Purushottam vrata properly will attain unlimited piety and spiritual merit (sukrti) and go to the spiritual world.
- Observing Purushottam vrata brings more benefit than performing one hundred horse sacrifices. All holy places live within the body of an observer of the Purushottam month vrata. *Anyone who faithfully performs Purusottama vrata will go to Goloka Vrindavana!*
- One who follows Purushottam vrata will destroy all his past sinful reactions.

Purushottama Masa is considered a rare spiritual opportunity to cleanse the heart, strengthen bhakti, and receive the unlimited mercy of the Lord.

*புருஷோத்தம மாதம்: 17 மே - 15 ஜூன் 2026* புருஷோத்தம மாதம், அதிக மாதம் என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. இது வேத நாட்காட்டியில் வரும் மிகவும் புனிதமான மற்றும் ஆன்மீக சக்தி வாய்ந்த ஒரு மாதமாகும். இது பரம புருஷோத்தமரான ஸ்ரீ கிருஷ்ண பகவானுக்கு மட்டுமே அர்ப்பணிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த கூடுதல் சந்திர மாதம், சந்திர மற்றும் சூரிய நாட்காட்டிகளை ஒத்திசைக்கும் பொருட்டு, தோராயமாக *மூன்று ஆண்டுகளுக்கு ஒருமுறை* மட்டுமே தோன்றுவதால், இது மிகவும் அரிதானதாகவும் மங்களகரமானதாகவும் விளங்குகிறது.

கிருஷ்ண பகவான் இந்த மாதத்தை தனிப்பட்ட முறையில் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு, தனது பெயரான புருஷோத்தம மாதம் என்று ஆசீர்வதித்ததால், சாஸ்திரங்கள் இந்த மாதத்தை எல்லா மாதங்களுக்கும் அரசன் என்று போற்றுகின்றன. இந்தக் காலகட்டத்தில் செய்யப்படும் எந்தவொரு ஆன்மீகப் பயிற்சியும் பன்மடங்கு ஆன்மீகப் பலன்களைத் தருவதோடு, பக்தி, தூய்மை மற்றும் பகவானின் நினைவு ஆகியவற்றில் ஒருவர் விரைவாக முன்னேறவும் உதவுகிறது.

பக்தர்கள் குறிப்பாகப் பின்வரும் பல்வேறு விரதங்களில் ஈடுபடுகிறார்கள்:
- ஹரே கிருஷ்ண மகா மந்திரத்தை அதிகமாக உச்சரித்தல்
- தினமும் புனித நூல்களைப் படித்தல்
- இறைவனுக்கு நெய் தீபம் ஏற்றுதல்
- எளிமை, பக்தி மற்றும் சேவையைக் கடைப்பிடித்தல்
- பிரார்த்தனைகள், கீர்த்தனைகள், பஜன்கள் மற்றும் பலவற்றின் மூலம் தங்கள் தொடர்பை ஆழப்படுத்துதல்...

அனைத்து ஆன்மீக அனுஷ்டானங்களிலும், இந்த தெய்வீக மாதத்தில் பகவத் கீதையின் 15 ஆம் அத்தியாயமான புருஷோத்தம யோகத்தை உச்சரிப்பது குறிப்பாகப் பரிந்துரைக்கப்படுகிறது.

இந்த மாதத்தின் மேலும் சில மகிமைகள்:
- புருஷோத்தம மாதத்தில் ஒரு சிறிய பக்தி முயற்சி கூட அளவற்ற ஆன்மீகப் பலனைத் தருகிறது.
- கருணைமிக்க புருஷோத்தம மாதம், ஒரு பக்தனின் விருப்பத்தை நிறைவேற்றும் ஆசை மரம் போலச் செயல்படுகிறது.
- புருஷோத்தம மாதம் அனைத்து மாதங்கள், விரதங்கள் மற்றும் தவங்களில் மிகச் சிறந்ததாகும்.

புருஷோத்தம மாதத்தின் மகிமைகளை நம்பிக்கையுடன் கேட்பதன் மூலமே, ஒருவர் கிருஷ்ண பக்தியை அடைந்து, தனது பாவ விளைவுகளை உடனடியாக நீக்கிவிடுகிறார்.

புருஷோத்தம விரதத்தை முறையாக அனுசரிப்பவர் எல்லையற்ற பக்தியையும் ஆன்மீகப் புண்ணியத்தையும் (சுக்ருதி) அடைந்து ஆன்மீக உலகிற்குச் செல்வார்.

புருஷோத்தம விரதத்தை அனுசரிப்பது நூறு அஸ்வமேத யாகங்களைச் செய்வதை விட அதிக பலனைத் தரும். புருஷோத்தம மாத விரதத்தை அனுசரிப்பவரின் உடலுக்குள் அனைத்துப் புனிதத் தலங்களும் குடிகொண்டுள்ளன.

நம்பிக்கையுடன் கேட்பதன் மூலமே, ஒருவர் கிருஷ்ண பக்தியை அடைந்து, தனது பாவ விளைவுகளை உடனடியாக நீக்கிவிடுகிறார். புருஷோத்தம விரதத்தை முறையாக அனுசரிப்பவர் எல்லையற்ற பக்தியையும் ஆன்மீகப் புண்ணியத்தையும் (சுக்ருதி) அடைந்து ஆன்மீக உலகிற்குச் செல்வார்.

Margazhi month(tamil panchang month) from tomorrow 16th Dec.
Its called "Dhanurmasam" When sun enters the dhanur rasi. 
In south India,there is a practice of reciting daily 1 song/pasuram composed by woman saint Godha/Aandal.She is beleived to be an incarnation of Mahalakshmi.
Daily 1 song is sung starting from 16th.Totally 30 pasurams/songs are there.It is called Thiruppavai.
