In this video, we decided to imagine what the appearance of Peter Parker from The Amazing Spider-Man could look like — his potential storyline, the atmosphere around him, and even a kind of “promo” as if his return was being presented as a major moment.

It was really interesting for us to explore what his role and presence might be in a story of this scale.

After a seven-year hiatus, Andrew Garfield made a stunning return as Peter Parker (Peter-Three) in Spider-Man: No Way Home, giving fans a sense of closure to a story that was left unfinished without a trilogy of its own. Though The Amazing Spider-Man 3 never materialized, there was a time when the film had a script, a director, a lead actor, and even a scheduled release date—along with ambitious plans for a sprawling Spider-Man cinematic universe.

So, what went wrong? Why did this highly anticipated sequel never take flight and swing into theaters? The answer isn’t a single catastrophic event but rather a chain reaction of setbacks and circumstances that unfolded both before the release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and in its immediate aftermath.

For years, fans have speculated about The Amazing Spider-Man 3—its trailers, teasers, official announcements, and the possibilities it could have explored. But before we get into what could have been, let’s take a step back to where it all began.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) was a fresh take on Marvel’s iconic web-slinger, rebooting the franchise after Sam Raimi’s beloved Spider-Man trilogy (2002–2007). Directed by Marc Webb and penned by James Vanderbilt, Alvin Sargent, and Steve Kloves, the film starred Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker alongside Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field. The story followed Peter’s transformation after being bitten by a genetically modified spider, leading him to confront a dangerous, reptilian adversary while uncovering secrets about his own past.

The franchise’s development began after Spider-Man 4 was scrapped in January 2010, marking the end of Tobey Maguire’s tenure as Spider-Man. Columbia Pictures decided to reboot the series with a new creative direction, retaining much of the same production team and bringing in Vanderbilt to shape the next chapter.

The film introduced fresh elements from the comics, including artificial web-shooters and a reimagined origin story. As the series progressed, fans eagerly awaited The Amazing Spider-Man 3—but instead of swinging into theaters, the project faded into uncertainty, leaving many to wonder what went wrong.

Based on the huge fan love for Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, there is every chance that we will actually see the film one day!
