This is Colonel Hank Fowler — my supervisor when I served as a Judge Advocate at Offutt Air Force Base. He was — who was shot down over Hanoi on Easter Sunday, 1967, and spent the next six years as a prisoner of war in the Hanoi Hilton.
When he came home his health rendered him unable to fly, so the Air Force put him through law school. He was the most serene man I have ever met. I used to wonder how someone who had endured what he did could carry himself with such calm and grace. I still wonder.
Although he was an evangelical Christian, he never once asked me about my faith. He did not care as long as I did my job well.
This Easter, I'm grateful for everyone who has ever put on a uniform and understood what that meant.

The President’s "Board of Peace" costs $1,000,000 to join. Solomon thinks that's a lot of kibble.
In Ecclesiastes King Solomon wrote that there is a time for every purpose under heaven. And now is the time to send an independent karate instructor from Lemoyne, Nebraska to Congress so we can get to work. A representative who won’t be a rubber stamp and won’t be beholden to a party boss.
For as little as $1, you can join Solomon's Board of Paws — because my campaign is funded by working people, not billionaires. With a small donation you can help take back control of our democracy. Every Board of Paws member receives a certificate acknowledging their commitment to pouncing on corruption and sending a true representative to Washington.
Nebraska's 3rd District contains eighty counties and borders six states. I am the only candidate in this race with the time, ability, and desire to try to visit every town and city in this vast district to listen to the people I will represent. But I need your help. Gas costs money. Fighting billionaires costs money.
Today, March 31st, is the FEC's end-of-quarter reporting deadline. Every dollar raised by midnight tonight gets reported publicly. The media, other candidates, and potential endorsers will be watching those numbers. A strong report tells the political world that Nebraska's 3rd District is ready to lead America by declaring independence from a two-party system that rewards extremism and pits neighbor against neighbor.
I'm not funded by corporate PACs. I'm funded by people like you. Even $1 makes a difference. DONATE at

Great video about Tyson's closure of the Lexington plant. Many so-called conservatives tout the "free market," but they forget that the free market only works when there is real competition. This is why Republicans - more than one hundred years ago - fought for and passed antitrust legislation. We must strengthen and enforce those laws. And neither party will do it until we get billionaire and large corporate money out of politics. Rural Nebraskans want a true independent who will go to Washington, tell it like it is, and hold the feet of both parties to the fire.
