The last 2.5yrs we’ve been milking sheep. Yes
 sheep.

I had no idea people even did that until my wife said so. She was right (again) and 3 weeks later, after a bunch of research, we had our first few dairy sheep.

Since then they’ve been an incredible blessing to our family. The milk is truly- the champagne of milk, and I do fancy myself as a lifetime milk connoisseur.

There’s some pretty cool facts such as sheep milk has TWICE the protein per cup đŸ€Ż

When something is such a blessing in our life like these sheep have been, Maredith and I start asking ourselves how we can share that with others.

We’ve been working on something pretty neat that I look forward to sharing with you soon.

Until then enjoy the lamb spam cause who doesn’t love baby sheep

I was sitting in the arena one evening just finishing a ride on this little dun filly trying to find the words for the mission and conviction I felt in my heart.

I had spent many early mornings, late nights and hot afternoons pondering this same thing
but that evening the words were given to me.

“Educating Horses and People with a Lifetime in Mind”.

That was it. Simple and clear yet rooted in the belief that it’s not just what we do, it’s how we do it.

At the time the pinnacle I was striving for was to be traveling and teaching clinics helping more horses and people develop deeper skills that would foster safer, more enjoyable partnerships for both the horse and the human while being able to on and accomplish their goals whether that was high level performance/sport horses or heading down the trail.

As things should, things evolved.

The opportunity to travel all across the country and teach became a reality. The invitations to major expos followed. And while what we did continued to evolve, the mission to help more horses and people has never left the forefront.

Along the way a mentor and business coach challenged me.

“If you’re serious about helping more horses and people, the way you can truly help the most is by helping horse professionals. If you help one run their business better, think of how many horses, clients and students they’ll be able to serve. And if you help 10, 20 or 100 that will be far more horses and people than you could ever help just on your own.”

He was right.. but that wasn’t my plan

But I knew if I was serious about my mission, my purpose, I knew what I had to do.

Along the journey I’ve learned one of the most freeing things we can do is surrender. To let go of trying to figure it all out or make it happen on our own and to focus on doing what we know we are called to do. To surround ourselves with others who truly want to help and serve. To dedicate ourselves to truly serving others with quality. And to let go of the things we don’t have control over.

Over the years of helping horse business owners we’ve been blessed to see incredible transformations in peoples lives both personally and professionally.

From pros being on the brink of burnout to having a business that they love again and that is actually providing for them.

To others going all in on their calling and serving their people and horses in incredibly deep and impactful ways.

And yes even watching those committed to the highest quality results harvest the fruit of high profits within their business giving them the ability to better provide and give back to all those around them.

It’s never been about the money.
It’s always been about fulfilling the calling we were created and put here for.

We’re responsible for being great stewards of what we’ve been blessed with.

I will continue to do everything I can to improve the lives of every person we work with and they serve through their business and to ultimately make this industry better and stronger for generations to come.

I firmly believe a rising tide raises all ships and

If you’re a horse professional who is highly skilled and able to teach well, courses & memberships are one of the biggest opportunities to reach and serve more students and build a highly profitable side of your business.

BUT!

Many don’t understand the actual math and structure that it takes to build a successful course or membership. Most get emotionally excited by how much money they could make not realizing that they often will still end up in the same bucket as service providers- overworked & underpaid.

Just this afternoon I had a call with a horseman and she has created multiple fantastic courses that can help many horses and people. But

1) She’s struggled to get students enrolled.

2) she didn’t realize that even if she did get her courses filled- her offer structure was going to create more work than was sustainable & it was packed with so much stuff it was going to create huge buyers remorse, the money she would’ve made because of her pricing structure wouldn’t be enough to make it sustainable and she’d be constantly chasing the next sale..

So started build a roadmap that was designed to ensure
- the students could achieve the end objective through her courses
- that her offer structure gave the students what they wanted & needed while still being sustainable for her
- her pricing structure would NOT leave her chasing the next sale but it would actually allow her to serve students longer, create recurring revenue for her business and make more educational content more accessible for her students.

In order to serve your students, your horses, your clients and even your family- you must intentionally design the structure of your business and your offers and use the strategies that will allow you to put serving them at the forefront while making sure the business creates the results that you need to keep serving them.

If you’d like to set up a strategy call to talk through the structure & strategies that could serve your business, your students and yourself best to get you from where you’re at right now to where you want to be and how we could help, I’ll drop a link in the comments.

A lot of horse business owners run their businesses like they’re gambling at the casino.

When you’re on a good streak you’re having fun, socializing, the energy feels good and you’re focused on the upside. But when the cards dry up, you start counting what you’ve lost, questioning if you should just walk away, and it starts to feel dark.

And beyond the moment, many keep running their businesses hoping for that one big win. Taking huge risks along the way. Putting themselves in bad situations that hurt them financially, take a toll on their health, and destroy relationships.

Here’s what I’ve learned from the most successful business owners- there are moments where significant risk has to be taken. But it’s a moment, not a lifestyle.

The focus shouldn’t be on hoping for one big win. It should be on building a business that earns small wins consistently. Because those wins stack up. The business becomes sustainable and profitable. And it happens because you build the processes, the structure, the systems and the support that makes success so likely that failure becomes unlikely.

Most people run their businesses emotionally because they’re chasing that one big win. When it doesn’t come they get down, pause, reset, and wait for the pain to wear off before they set their sights on the next big gamble.

Successful business owners do it differently. They have a clear vision and instead of gambling on one big moment, they build the infrastructure to make that vision inevitable.

If you’re a horse business owner that’s already doing got things going but you know there are gaps between where you are and where you’re meant to be. We work with horse professionals that are serious about building a business that provides real impact, real value, that truly serves others. One that is sustainable, is that’s true to who they are, and that gives them the time, the resources, and the freedom to operate at the level they’re actually capable of. If better strategy, structure, systems or support would help you right now and you’re curious whether we could help you, shoot me a message and we can see if we could help you.

3 Tips for my fellow Horse Business Owners!
If you’re going to be successful in business you HAVE TO LOVE THE PROCESS of what you do! You cant get too high on the highs or too low on the lows. Theres going to be amazing days, and really sucky days.

So here are 3 Tips to Help you

1. Find Your Niche: Identify a specific area within the horse industry that you're passionate about and excel in. This could be anything from service based, such as training horses, to product based, like designing and selling equine apparel, to communications based, like teaching. Focusing on a niche market can help you stand out and become a go-to expert in your selected area. (Fact- The riches are in the niches đŸ‘ŒđŸ»đŸ˜‰)

2. Network and Collaborate: As we say- your network is your net worth! Building strong relationships with other horse professionals can lead to new opportunities and amazing collaborations. Attend industry events, join equine-related groups on social media, and seek out mentorship from those who have experience in your chosen field.

3. Embrace Technology: I know horse folks- this is the tough one! Technology can help streamline your business operations and connect with customers on a larger scale. Utilize social media to promote your brand, consider online sales platforms for your products, and explore digital tools for managing your finances and scheduling.

No matter how you cut it- Remember, success takes time, effort, and dedication! But by following these tips and staying true to your passion, your purpose, your why- you can build a thriving and fulfilling career in the horse industry.

Many say to make a million in the horse industry you got to start with a billion. I say F$%! that. Go build your empire! Go build your legacy! And dont waste a minute on those mindsets that only hold folks back.

Every week we help horse business owners do exactly that! From better systems to save them HUNDREDS of hours, to building their offer strategy creating $100k+, to developing high value brands enabling them to get paid what they’re worth.
