Punishments
For Obscene and Vulgar Language (Section 67, IT Act): If the person uses highly explicit, vulgar, or obscene language in YouTube comments or videos, a first-time conviction can lead to up to 3 years in prison and a fine of up to ₹5 Lakh. A repeat offense can push the punishment to 5 years in prison and a ₹10 Lakh fine.
For Online Defamation (Section 356, BNS / Formerly Sec 499/500 IPC): If the abuser uses lies and curses to ruin your public reputation on YouTube, they can be jailed for up to 2 or 3 years, fined, or both.
For Online Stalking & Bullying (Section 78, BNS / Formerly Sec 354D IPC): If someone is repeatedly tracking you across videos to bully and harass you, they can face up to 3 years in prison for a first-time offense.
For Insulting the Modesty of a Woman (Section 79, BNS / Formerly Sec 509 IPC): If the abuser targets a woman using derogatory comments or sexualized verbal abuse, the punishment is up to 3 years in prison, a fine, or both.
