*THURSDAY 7TH* NOVEMBER 2024 Weekday *_(31)_* Philippians 3:3-8a Psalms 105:2-3.4-5.6-7 (R.3b) Luke 15:1-10
*MY LOSS IS CHRIST'S GAIN*
Without looking too far, we can see marks of the scar that our fight left on our relationship with each other. At the time when we should have pulled our strengths together to overcome our challenges, we turned away to pursue our selfish gain. To what end is the endless competition that has turned friends into rivals? *Romans 12:10* encouraged love among us, if there will be any competition, let it be to outdo one another in showing honor.
Do you know that the gold medal to be won at the race, is only a tiny bit of mineral deposit that nature has in free supply? Take a second look at the motive behind your constant struggles, and learn to think of the ultimate essence for each victory. If your victory or success has isolated you from the community and your friends, then sit back and reconsider why you got into competition from the beginning.
After a careful examination of his life's work, St. Paul in his writing to the *Philipians (3:3-8a)* said, "Indeed I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord." Despite covering several territories, preaching and teaching to the gentiles, Paul knew that it was Christ's gain in the end, because it was Christ's mission in the beginning. Paul was called up to use the zeal he applied in persecution of the church, to defend it.
To adopt a winning mentality for Christ, you should aim primarily to make the joy of the Lord felt in the heart of others. *Matthew 6:33* said, "set your hearts on his kingdom first, and on God's saving justice, and all these other things will be given you as well." Elsewhere in *Colossians 3:17* we read that, "and whatever you say or do, let it be in the name of the Lord Jesus, in thanksgiving to God the Father through him." Put Christ first, let your loss be the gain of another for the sake of Christ, who is a physical reflection of the image of God.
*O Jesus:* Bless all the hearts that love, and make us rejoice always in the victory of the mission of Jesus, over the agenda of the world. Amen.
