Happy Mars Hill Monday! The Seahawks won the Super Bowl - which means I, like the other 26 million people on post-SB Monday - will be taking the day off
However! I still wanted to leave you with a quick analysis of Fall Out Boy's 2023 song: "We Didn't Start The Fire" (Current Music)
1) This song is the continuation of Billy Joel's song (same title) released in 1989 (Joel gave the band the thumbs up/blessing to release the song)
2) The song is a list of significant events that shaped / changed society, same as the original
3) The chorus is key to the message: progress, tragedy, and social change will always happen regardless of what we can do
4) The world asks: with history repeating itself, is there any end to all this madness? It seems like we cannot predict anything except that there will always be some sort of decay
5) The connection to scripture is to remind the audience that there are few guarantees in life - except eternity after death (1 John 2:15-17 ---emphasis on verse 17)
