*Two Brave Youths from Batengoo Risk Lives to Save 7-Year-Old Sikh Girl in Jhelum, Tragically She Passes Away*

Anantnag, July 9:In a heart-wrenching incident that also reflected the deep communal harmony of Kashmir, two young Muslim men from Batengoo, Anantnag — Sareed and Sartaj — risked their lives try to save a 7-year-old Sikh girl who accidentally fell into the River Jhelum on Monday. Despite their courageous efforts, the girl tragically passed away while being rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag.
According to eyewitnesses, the young girl had accidentally slipped into the river Jhelum. She came here with her father, a cloth seller from Punjab who has been earning his livelihood in Kashmir. Without a second thought, Sareed and Sartaj jumped into the swift current of Jhelum to rescue her. They managed to retrieve her from the waters, but the child had already taken in too much water and could not survive.
The incident has deeply moved the local community. In a compassionate gesture, residents of Batengoo, predominantly from the Muslim community, came forward to support the grieving father by collecting donations to help him during this tragic time.

Several residential structures were damaged in the devastating fire, prompting an immediate response from police and other emergency services.
Demonstrating exceptional dedication, Anantnag Police swiftly joined firefighting efforts to contain the flames and prevent further damage. Their timely intervention helped in bringing the situation under control, minimizing the risk to life and property.
