Update posts from this week described below.

----------------------------------------------

Pictures 1 - 5 (June 26th), A hand full of new signal foundations added along the SACRT Blue Line between CRC and Florin Stations for the signaling system update project starting on the Blue Line. This is the same type of project also going on in the Swanston - Marconi/Arcade area of the Blue Line too. The project is updating wayside aspect signals and also likely putting in a new system they will function on likely similar to the Folsom section of the Gold Line so I'm wondering when this project is completed, will it change how the crossings function between the Meadowview and CRC stations to being similar like Folsoms. They don't have to add crossing beacons be crossings in that's section already have them. This project is supposed to come out to the rest of the system also on all lines eventually as SACRT mentioned that before. So I wonder, will all SACRT crossings be updated to have crossing beacons as a majority of light rail systems here in the USA use crossing beacons and have updated their older crossings to use them and I'm wondering if SACRT is looking to do that on top of that, change the whole system crossings to function like in Folsom.

In pics 1, 2, & 3, the CRC Station tail track is having two wayside aspect signals added to so trains can get signaled out of the tail track instead of just coming into the CRC crossing island circuit. I always wondered why SACRT didn't do this in the first place when this section was being built in 2014/2015.

In pic 4, I got one of the new signal foundations installed near the CRC Bridge as their maybe more this is just the only one I noticed here. Also, their are new signal foundations near the crossover switches near Franklin Station too but I didn't get a picture. It's interesting to see SACRT updating wayside signal systems that were only just installed a decade ago in the section between Meadowview and CRC. Not all are being updated, I'll say nearly half.

In pic 5, I got a picture of 1 out of 2 new foundations on the north side of the crossover switches near the Meadowview Station.

------------------------------------------------

Picture 6 (June 26th), The Morricon Creek, Franklin, Center Parkway, and CRC Stations have these new bolts added sticking out likely where the low floor stop posts will be installed.

-------------------------------------------------

Picture 7 (June 26th), Finally caught SACRT car 427 almost 2 weeks after it was released. This is the first car of batch 7 that has entered service.

----------------------------------------------------

Picture 8 (June 27th), Finally caught SACRT car 436 nearly two weeks after it was released. This is the last car of batch 3.

-------------------------------------------------

Pictures 9 & 10, I decided to search Google and their AI prompt and it looks like it found info that the 29th/30th and R Street project is finally exiting its long design phase and is about to enter construction. The city is putting up the final construction contractor bids before construction starts. This project was delayed due to unforseen underground utilities basically, nearly the same situation as the project on Power Inn Rd but except here construction hasn't started yet when the utilities were found underground. At Power Inn Rd construction has already started on that project when they discovered underground utilities missed in surveying which delayed it mid construction there.

A reminder, this project will add traffic signals to the intersections of 28th & R St and 30th & R St to add more safety for pedestrians using the crosswalks there which also will be interconnected and preempted with the railroad crossing signals and also in addition, the classic early Safetran 70s Style Cantilever signals at both crossings on the SACRT Gold Line will be replaced with entirety new signals. This may also cause SACRT to add wayside aspect signals to the 29th Street Station and also possibly crossing beacons to each crossing but since this is a city project mainly, I can't confirm if each crossing will for sure get crossing beacons, it's just an assumption as SACRT projects post 2014 that involve crossings always includes crossing beacons for trains.

When construction starts here, it will be interesting to see as trains will still be running through it. Also, I believe the new rebuilt versions of the 29th and 30th St crossing will not include new cantilevers due to a line of sight issue with the new traffic signals so each crossing will be a standard two signal one way street crossing setup simulator of the I-80 Ramp crossing near Roseville Road Station. This will be an opportunity to see a SACRT mid to late 2020s signal install too or if they have more signals from the former Glenn construction project, maybe another SACRT early 2020s type of signal install used in the mid to late 2020s.

From June 19, 2026
Picture 1 - 3, On the SACRT Gold Line/UP Placerville Branch, the Nimbus Rd crossing shoulder gate on the north side had its remaining Miller Felpax WCH Gate LEDs replaced with NEG Clear Style Alstom-Aurora Gate LEDs. This leaves SACRT owning 3 crossings that has 1 set of Miller WCH Gate LEDs left and only 2 are on the light rail sections. The WCH Gate LEDs are nearly eradicated off the system now.

Pictures 4 & 5, The signaling project near the SACRT Swanston Yard area on the Blue Line with the aspect signal foundations in the ground. Their are more but these are the ones I got pictures of. Note, some signal project was done also south of the 47th Avenue Station on the Blue Line recently.

Pictures 6 - 8, The UP Bridge Project on the UP Sacramento Sub American River Bridge northern section. Eventually, a window for construction is going to be put on the Sac Sub when this project gets deeper and I don't know the plans of it on the scale on how big this project is.

From June 9, 2026 - Picture 9, I forgot to post what's done so far of the Brightline West train route to Las Vegas. A parking garage was partially built since I was last here last year but currently, construction is paused from what I last heard of.

The Marconi/Arcade, Royal Oaks, & Arden/Del Paso Stations on the SACRT Blue Line now has both middle track fencing and railing installed at the station. Look both ways signs and paint on the ground still needs to be added.

Pic 1 & 2 - Marconi/Arcade
Pic 3 & 4, Royal Oaks
Pic 5, Arden/Del Paso

----------------------------------------------------

Pictures 5 - 10, The Dos Rios Station on the SACRT Blue Line is basically completed besides the traffic signals that are still inactive and just minor work left but even though construction is done earlier than anticipated, the station will open ontime in September 2026 instead of early. I'm guessing the arrival of the ticket machines is what is holding the station from opening early and also, SACRT not planning an open date unless they are purposely holding it until the 7th & Railyards Station on the Green Line opens and have both stations open on the same day. It maybe underground utility work left within the station too.

The California Northern Railroad has been replacing all Incandescent lights along the West Valley Sub the last past couple of months with new Electro-Tech LEDs for the 8 inch lights and RSI Styled Patco or Ansaldo STS LEDs for 12 inch lights between Davis and Richfield, CA.

Picture 1, Co Rd 99 with its new ET LEDs.

Picture 2, Co Rd 96 with its new ET LEDs.

Picture 3, Co Rd 93B with new ET LEDs and also, the teardrop Bell now sounds rough when it rings.

Picture 4, 4th St with new ET LEDs.

Picture 5, Co Rd 18C with new ET LEDs.

Picture 6 - 8, Santa Anita Dr New ET LEDs and also both its WRRS Mechanical Bells were replaced with GS Type 3 Electronic Bells. I did not film these crossings updates as the train didn't have any switching movements on this spur that day. Hopefully the next time I come.

Picture 9, N Pioneer Ave at JTP new RSI Style LEDs.

Also, the other N Pioneer Ave with 2 signals also got new LEDs but that crossing I didn't film and likely won't as that other spur track is a mostly inactive track with barely movements on it. If you remember, I only got a crossing activation and time out video of it several years ago.

Picture 10, Co Rd 13 with new RSI Style LEDs. However, I didn't film this crossing either this day as I skipped past it to get the train at its neighboring crossing at 93B. Look to get this one next time.

Like mentioned, all Incandescent Light crossings by now should have mostly been replaced with LEDs now as the CFNR continues these updates.

Had time today as I originally was going to film the BNSF 1776 & 2026 train today but I had seen updates yesterday that it will come through at night so I scrapped that but used the time to go check on Keys Rd on the UP Sacramento Sub that was a so called crossing project that was "completed" according to Google Search AI. The project didn't even start. I was going to get the Z-Train here but I moved to Howsley Rd since I haven't filmed a train at Howsley Rd anyway since the signals were replaced as If you remember, I filmed Howsley Rd New signals with MOW equipment passing through and never came back to film a train with the newer signals.

----------------------------------------------------

It turns out that the construction that was on Keys Rd in the late half of last year 2025 was actually levee work that had Keys Rd closed from the UP crossing westward to Natomas Rd and not the crossing section yet.

As you can see, the crossing still currently is an crossbuck only crossing and is because the crossing project is delayed being another delayed project again and after coming here I looked it up again and it was just approved for funding this year making this be another project running late. Here's more info. www.territorialdispatch.com/2026/04/28/570601/sutt…

Since this project is late and likely will have more delays when it does eventually start, this is one project I will not be updating and keeping up with due to it being on the far countryside and I don't want to come out here for construction updates as I prefer to assert my energy in this era elsewhere. Whenever the crossing is done in the future, I'll film it after someone else films the site completed.

Got back from my Las Vegas Trip on Saturday night and caught a few trains on the way there, there, and coming back.

----------------------------------------------------

Picture 1 - 3, June 12, 2026
At the W Wyoming Ave crossing on the UP Cima Sub. A new Safetran Light replaced a Harmon Light and got another new GE Pixilated Look Dotted LEDs on the east side pedestrian gateless signal. The previous one obviously was damaged. Also, the east side median signal has a new mechanism door in which I first almost thought it was a new mechanism but everything else is actually still the same mechanism but with a new door.

----------------------------------------------------

Picture 4, June 13, 2026
A ripped background at the Hwy 395 crossing at Krammer Junction on the BNSF Mojave Sub. I filmed this crossing on the 8th when I was headed up to Vegas but I didn't notice this broken background until I was leaving that day after I had filmed the crossing from the opposite side. I'm curious how the backgrounds at this crossing keep getting ripped in half. I can see trucks breaking the gates and bending them to a point that they reach an otherwise unreachable part of the crossing when lowering and raising broken.

Also on the 8th at Krammer Junction, I seen a UP train on the BNSF with SD70M's. I didn't know a UP train or possibly a UP Local used the BNSF here. I only got a short video of it because I was coming off highway 58 when I saw it.

Picture 5 - 7, June 13th, 2026
Last minute highway shot of progress of the W, Herndon Ave grade separation underpass project in Fresno, CA on the UP Fresno Sub. You can see since I was here, they have dug more into the ground with the man holes sticking up.

----------------------------------------------------

Pictures 8 & 9 June 13, 2026, MOW Tampers and regulators in Atwater on the UP Fresno Sub. MOW season is still going on putting up windows for trains.

*Yesterday* June 5, 2026
Pictures 1 - 6, I already made an update for this BUT this is the first time I'm on the ground at the site of the new sidewalk pedestrian crossing at the Power Inn Rd crossing on the UP Fresno Sub in Sacramento, CA. The roadway has new asphalt also layed down. This is another part completed of the Power Inn Road Queue Cutter crossing project as the project is still being worked on in small bits after costs for the project ballooned after wrong surveying in 2022 finding an unexpected PG&E Gas Line Underground.

I want to point some things out though, I included the original PDF screenshot plan of this project in pic 6 which includes where new crossing signals will go, the queue cutter traffic signals, and the new pedestrian crossing. As you can already seen and I already covered when last year when the traffic signal was installed, it doesn't match the plans as they had to relocate the traffic signals position and setup due to the unforseen underground utilities and gas line. I already covered this last year. BUT another thing now, the sidewalk also isn't built to the plans and the reason I say this is because of how close the sidewalk is to the current signal on the north side of the crossing or west side of the roadway. The pedestrian crossing was supposed to be built a little further from the crossing because it is supposed to support its own 2 crossing signals. This design looks like either they changed to the plans to have only 1 pedestrian crossing signal on the across side of the track where the sidewalk turns or no pedestrian signals at all. Also, note that it looks like UP likely isn't replacing the current old signals until this project is nearing completion and that's likely also when the traffic signals go active. Also, they might be still putting both pedestrian signals when the new roadway signals are installed and the new roadway signal might be installed closer to the track which would still provide that gap that will make it look nearly like the original plan. I'm just hoping they aren't going the cheap route since this project ran into problems and cut some things out as the project was already altered.

----------------------------------------------------

Pictures 7 - 8, The inbound track at the former SMUD, current private crossing on the SACRT Gold Line now has track panels instead of ties just being under the roadway concrete. Only the outbound track had track panels as it is newer than the inbound track. This was done either recently or after they completed replacing ties earlier this year during that project. I wonder why the didn't do the same to the inbound track at the 51st and 48th St crossings down the way from here.

The inbound track is the original SACRT track through this area from 1987 before it was double tracked here in the mid 90s.

----------------------------------------------------

Picture 9, Reposting this, the BRT Lane median signal on S Watt Ave on the UP Placerville Branch, SACRT added 1 extra small counterweight onto it likely to have better gate movement.

----------------------------------------------------

Picture 10, SACRT really needs to cut this bush here at the Sunrise Station Access Rd crossing on the UP Placerville Branch.

Pictures 1 & 2, S Watt Ave and Elder Creek Rd crossings New signals on the CCT Line are now bagged. S Watt Ave New western half hasn't been paved yet.

Pictures 3 - 5, A look at the Florin Rd crossing on the CCT Line as construction is starting at it as the track has been removed south of Florin Rd to make way for a new track to be built and their are survey markings to the north of Florin Rd also for the track and siding to be rebuilt also. A new railroad bridge will have to be built at Elder Creek South of here and also, just south of the creek, a new roadway and crossing will be put in on this line at Waterman Rd.

Yesterday - June 2, 2026
Picture 1 - 4, The Hwy 1 crossing on the Santa Cruz Beach Train Line since I last filmed it back in 2021 a while ago has now gotten a new GS Type 3 E-Bell replacing one of the Safetran Mechanical Bells. I already made a post a year ago that this bell was replaced but I hadn't filmed the new bell back then until now. Also, recently, this crossing also got new gate barrier with new NEG Clear Alstom-Aurora Look gate LEDs and new RECO or NEG Gate LEDs.

Pictures 5 - 7, The traffic circle crossing in Santa Cruz on Pacific Ave now has two more new GS Type 3 E-Bells replacing GS Type 2s on the closest two bell'd signals since I last filmed it nearly 2 years ago. This crossing now has 3 GS Type 3s and 1 GS Type 2. Seems like the 2014 modal GS Type 2s only are lasting a little over 1 decade in the salty air environment from the Ocean.

Pictures 8 & 9, Laurel St crossing in Santa Cruz has one "new" Harmon Fading LED light replacing the dead incandescent light that was here when I last filmed here nearly 2 years ago. Also, the same signal has gotten new Ansaldo/Hitachi STS US&S counterweight arms replacing the original WABCO Counterweight Arms on the WABCO Modal 75 Mechanism. Also received new gated here also but same gate LEDs as last time.

Picture 10, Went by the Graham Hill Rd & Roaring Camp Rd intersection crossing and one of the US&S Teardrop Bells is missing or stolen off the signal. Was on the left signal in the picture.
