Hey! I'm Regan (it sounds like vegan). I love a cheap flight, which means I spend a lot of time traveling with just a personal item that goes under the seat in front of me. But when I started looking for advice, I realized I couldn't relate to a lot of it... either it was coming from guys, who frankly just don't need the same things as women, or from people who are minimalists. And even though I'm traveling minimally, I'm not a minimalist! So, I started sharing the ways that I travel light while still feeling like myself. I hope that these tips help you travel lighter too!

I'm updating this list as i find more deals for Prime Day! There's actually a ton of shoes that would work really well for traveling in a personal item 👀. I personally grabbed some insoles to make my fashion sneakers more comfy for long walking days on trips.

🐚 For a few years now, I've casually wanted to walk the Camino de Santiago... more of a day-dream than an actual plan. When we took a road trip through Spain and Portugal in 2023, I noticed the markers while walking around the little towns, and as someone who goes on vacation just to walk around new places, it seemed like a lot of fun!
But it was hard to imagine a way for us to leave for 5+ weeks, not work, and be able to walk the entire time as well.
Recently, I learned there are shorter routes that only take about a week or 2 weeks and it's starting to seem more do-able. Like, maybe something to plan for next year?!
Have any of you hiked the camino? What route did you take and if you did it again, what would you do differently? Did you train for it, or go in cold turkey?

I’m about halfway through this book and I’m READY to plan a trip to Rome!!
I absolutely looooove reading books, watching movies, or playing video games related to the places we’re going to visit. I feel like it builds the anticipation and makes me so much more excited for the trip.
The first time I EVER left the US was on a trip to Rome in 2012.
I’d been dating my boyfriend for a little less than a year and he asked if I wanted to come on a trip with him. He was traveling for a competition that was hosted in Rome that year.
At first, I wasn’t sure if I could. I loved the idea but a trip to Europe seemed wayyyy too expensive as a student.
So, I worked all summer and saved up enough money for the ticket…
And I did it!
I remember being surprised by the trees (of all things) and how different they looked compared to the ones at home.
This was the trip that showed me international travel was actually possible for me… I just didn’t think that was something I could do before that.
My absolute obsession with it was solidified during a semester abroad a few years later,
and that boyfriend from 2012 is now the same one you see pop up in videos!
So, in honor of the book, I thought I’d share a few photos from that very first trip to Rome🤭

I’ve always wondering why my bag slides in easily to the Spirit sizer, but is more difficult with the Frontier sizer when they both have the same requirements (18x14x8”).
Well I took a closer look on my last trip, and the Spirit sizer is actually closer to 19” inches in height. Which means, you have a little more space than the actual requirement states.
I haven’t gone and measured the sizer for Frontier or even taken a tape measure to check Spirit’s… but if you’ve ever had the same problem as me and wondered why the Spirit sizer is so much “easier,” this may be why!
