New STT impact from today
π¨ STT just killed small traders (with math)
If you trade βΉ10 lakh/day in options:
OLD STT (0.10%) = βΉ1,000/day
NEW STT (0.15%) = βΉ1,500/day
π βΉ500 extra DAILY
Sounds small? Watch this π
Monthly loss = βΉ10,000
Yearly = βΉ1,20,000
Now imagine your profit is βΉ3,000/day:
Before β βΉ60,000/month
After β βΉ50,000/month
π 17% profit goneβ¦ without a single wrong trade
And if you overtrade?
βΉ50 lakh/day trader = βΉ50,000/month extra cost
π STT doesnβt care if you win or lose
New market rule:
Trade less. Trade sharp. Or bleed slowly.
Are you still scalping like 2023? π

Quick notes:Markets have been choppy for these Indian IT and banking ADRs lately, with some volatility around broader global cues. HDFC saw a nice bounce mid-week before pulling back. All prices in USD on NYSE.
Since trading can shift quickly (especially with any overnight or pre-market moves on March 27), I recommend checking a live source like Yahoo Finance, MarketWatch, or your broker for the absolute current tick.

High level budget 2026 understanding:
(1) Macros such as Fiscal deficit to be now reduced to 4.3% which is good for long term stability.
(2) All sectors in RED and market is down
(3) Budget lacked any announcements on
"defence sector" so its bleeding
(4) PSU Banks are bleeding as well
(5) Wealth management/Broking stocks are bleeding
(6) EMS sectors continues to be the priority, 40,000 Crores announced
(7) Semidionctuous mission 2.0 also was talked about
(8) IT sector - data centers investments with NO TAX until 2047 is BIG news
For me, the biggest reason for the market fall is, there were no announcements related to investments/taxes for the market participants.
E.g. "No respite on capital gain taxes". If a reduction in capital gain taxes was on the table, the market would have rallied. FIls return could have been in sight.
The market is very volatile today so 1 generally don't buy/sell during these times.
It's always prudent to wait and let the dust settle down. Did you like the budget
