Oii oii! Ladies, gents and teddy bears, welcome to the Ted Coningsby channel, the fun but serious military aviation channel. This is not your usual aviation channel. We stream the present and remember the past. With live shows every week at military areas around the Country, our presenter Nikos will bring you the action, knowledge and history of each station or area. From fighter jets to historic aircraft, from active bases to lost airfields, we bring you military aviation.
Our channel is family friendly and our live streams have a moderator team called the Spanner Flight. They keep things Sweet ‘n Neat to make it a wonderful experience no matter your age or background. We take things seriously when it comes to safety of our air force, so we have a “no faces, no places” ethos.
You can check out our filming schedule by checking out our noTEDS on the YouTube Community page.

We hope you all enjoyed Lancs, Tanks and Military Machines at East Kirkby. One of our viewers was glued to the wobbly jelly over in the Channel Islands. We think Savi the cat has a favourite 😻
Thanks Steven Cawley for sending this in

A beautifully made village sign of Conington which pays tribute to the B-17s of the 457BG who were stationed at RAF GLATTON, Cambridgeshire.

Here is a beautiful village sign of East Kirby where the Lancasters flew on missions during 1943-1945. We are also at LAHC where Lancaster NX611 is looking to be flying in the skies once more in the near future. Join us live today at East Kirkby

So here is the wonderful painted sign of my home town of Coningsby. One of largest clocks and a single handed clock too on the church along with the Lancaster and its escorting fighters.

WHATASHOT!
Here is another great shot from Matt Holloway (insta: matt_holloway_photography) who captured Nikos doing his thing with the B-1! What a great capture and summed up our little two day expedition to Fairford.

WHATASHOT!
Another classic capture of the moment of Nikos at work and this time we have a B-1 Lancer photographed by Freddie White (Insta: freddieblanco). We couldn't decide on which one so we featured both here!

WHATASHOT!
Our little expedition went off to flying start (ok that is a bad pun) but considering this was a pot luck against the plane and weather gods, this was a great day. To sum it all up, check out this magnificent shot from Matt Holloway (insta: matt_holloway_photography) who captured Nikos doing his thing with the B-52!

In the early hours of the 17th May 1943...
19 "AJ" marked Lancasters set off from RAF Scampton in 3 waves of 7, that is a total of 133 airmen.
I have often spoken about the evolution of tactics in aerial warfare. The mission was to destroy the dams of the Möhne, Eder and Sorpe.
CODENAME
Operation Chastise
SQUADRON
617
USE TORPEDO?
The Dams had protective torpedo netting, so using torpedoes was not going to work. It was this challenge that gave birth to the engineering, the thinking behind the genius of designer Dr Barnes Wallis, the UPKEEP (Bouncing Bomb)
SO YOU'VE GOT THE BOUNCING BOMB, THIS SHOULD BE EASY?
Negative, the dams were heavily defended, which gave you an idea of their importance. Search lights, anti aircraft fire, torpedo netting and possible enemy fighters to intercept the Lancasters. Low level would be the flying to evade been spotted and increase chances of survival. This was 60ft (18 Metres!) and for this to be accurate, a special twin spot lighting system was designed under the Lancasters so that the spotlights converged when at the height of 60ft over the water! Weight reduction was done to the Lancasters by removing bomb bay doors, upper turret and other weight saving, this would give the Lancasters more manoeuvrability and a little more speed.
REPORT
19 LANCASTERS - 11 FAILED TO RETURN
133 AIRMEN - 53 KILLED, 3 POW
3 DAMS - 2 DESTROYED, 1 IN TACT (LIGHT DAMAGE)
