Happy to say that The Sandbox, one of the feature docs I worked on last year, will be screening at HotDocs this year. A really ambitious experimental film about surveillance technology and made by a great team, this was a fun one to be a part of. There are two showings (not sure which one I'll be attending yet - maybe both), but if you're in Toronto and want to check it out I'd love to see some friendly faces there. Dates below!
📍 MARCH 24 – tickets are now available to Hot Docs members and ticket package holders 📍 MARCH 31 – single tickets go on sale to the public 📍 APRIL 25 – screening #1 at 8:00pm at the TIFF Lightbox 📍 MAY 2 – screening #2 at 11:00am at the Hot Docs Cinema

As we head towards a new year, I want to know: What's the biggest thing (in your view) holding you back from having the filmmaking career you want? It seems like the simple advice is always "just go shoot," but it's more complicated than that. Comment below to give more context, or suggest another obstacle.
Just a quick heads up: there are only a few hours left to save 30% in the biggest sale I’ve ever done. At midnight the price goes back up, and there won’t be another offer like this for a long time. If you’ve been wanting to jump from videographer to documentary cinematographer, use code DOC30 while you can! filmschool.lucforsyth.com/documentary-cinematograp…
Just a quick reminder that there are only 24 hours left to save 30% on my documentary cinematography course. This is the biggest discount I've ever offered, so if you’ve been thinking about levelling up your cinematography heading into the new year, this is your best chance! Use code DOC30 before it expires tomorrow: filmschool.lucforsyth.com/documentary-cinematograp…
I just got back from 7 weeks of shooting in the far North and somehow walked straight into Black Friday. So I figured I’d celebrate my return to civilization with the biggest discount I’ve ever offered on my Documentary Cinematography course. It’s my way of saying thanks for being part of this community. If you want to level up your shooting heading into the new year, use the code DOC30 for 30% off: filmschool.lucforsyth.com/documentary-cinematograp…
That's a wrap on 7 weeks of shooting in the Canadian far North. One of my favourite things about working in the film industry is the incredible access it gives me to some of the world's truly special places. Definitely not something I take for granted. What's your bucket list shooting location? Comment below! 👇
Full on packing mode for a 6-week remote location shoot. It starts by making huge piles on the floor and then slowly moving those piles into bags over a 3-4 day period, constantly adding and taking things away. But even though my approach is very chaotic and takes over my office, it's actually one of my favourite parts of the filmmaking process. How does everyone out there get ready for shoots?
It's film festival season and to me it seems like there are a TON of really interesting movies coming out and it makes me hopeful that there might be a post-marvel future in film! I loved Eddington, and I'm very excited for PTA's One Battle After Another, and in general it seems like an amazing great year ahead for film. But what is everyone else hyped about? I want as much input as possible about what to watch this year so I don't miss anything. Comment below 👇
