I'm going LIVE today on my Patreon at 5PM BST for an Ask Me Anything Q&A.
Nothing is off limits. Whether you want to ask about ADHD, RSD, unmasking, business, building ADHD Chatter, content creation, or the practical hacks that genuinely help me, I'll answer as many questions as I can.
Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria to be added to the ADHD assessment criteria and recognised as the hardest part of ADHD.
Children with ADHD receive 20,000 extra micro rejections than a neurotypical child:
âYouâre embarrassing yourselfâ âWhy are you being lazy?â âStop biting your nails!â âWhy are you crying?!â âStop being dramaticâ âYouâre too sensitive!â âYouâre really rudeâ âStop being weird!â âStop fidgetingâ âCalm downâ âBe normal!â âStop it!â
Even non-verbal rejections like an eye roll.
This turns them into adults who experience something called Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria. It causes extreme emotional pain when someone rejects or criticises them.
One tiny comment, like a friend saying theyâre too busy to see them, can trigger a nervous system collapse that feels like theyâre being attacked. And it means they:
Canât do anything unless itâs perfect.
They stay in the office 4 hours later than others.
They stay up all night to complete the work to a high standard. They work obscenely hard simply to protect themselves from the emotional pain that comes when their boss makes a tiny correction to their work.
Fear disappointing people.
This turns them into people pleasers. They abandon their own wants and needs to satisfy the want and needs of others. Theyâre always over apologising.
They hide their suffering because they donât want to cause a fuss or let anyone down but theyâre crumbling inside, drinking or eating in secret, silently imploding emotionally, filled with sadness and shame.
They avoid making decisions.
They donât apply for that promotion, they stay in that abusive relationship, they let that âfriendâ keep walking over them. It feels safer to avoid the conversation.
Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria is exhausting, debilitating and dangerous. And I promise to add it to the assessment criteria for ADHD if you make me your prime minister!
