𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 — 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗞𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀" Dr. Noel Hacegaba, CEO of the Port of Long Beach, isn't just running the port — he grew up in its shadow. But when we asked him who he really is, his answer had nothing to do with titles or cargo volumes: "I am a 𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱, I am a 𝗳𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿."That groundedness sets the tone for everything that follows.
From the nuts and bolts of port operations to the real human and logistical challenges behind supply chain disruptions, Noel brings a perspective that's rare at the top of a major institution. And unlike too many leaders in shipping who are laser-focused on quarterly performance and short-term wins, Noel 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 — he talks openly about his 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 for the port and why that mindset matters more than ever in a world of 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
He incarnates hashtag#𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 to the highest degree, setting a 𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵-𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿 for all stakeholders to follow.
A candid, human, and genuinely inspiring conversation with a hashtag#leader who happens to run one of the most strategically important ports in the world — in the city he's always called home.
On a personal note : I wear a magnificent red 👔, inherited from my mentor and friend Nicolas Romero, a goodies "Port Of Long Beach" 2015.
Season 1 of my podcast is done. And by any numbers, it's a failure. Thousands of dollars. Hours of post-prod. A few cringeworthy moments. Not a lot of views.
Still the best thing I did this year.
The guests. The stories. The company that swapped their town-halls for a podcast format because of me — I still can't believe that happened.
Creating something real is messy and expensive and mostly invisible. And completely worth it.
Season 2 is a new chapter: "Trust, a TPM Series" — a blend of hashtag#ShippingStories & hashtag#TheSchellingPoint. We had legendary guests, incredible conversations, and we made something I'm genuinely proud of.
Stay tuned. And if you want to help — comment, reshare, tell a friend. That's the whole fuel tank for independent creators.
