🇬🇧Wandering through the streets of the underworld is not a simple experience.
You find yourself face to face with hundreds of very young people, worn down by addiction and life on the streets.

They are trapped in a system that profits from their desperation. Getting a fix means not thinking about your problems.

Cali makes you reflect on how much thinner the line between our life and theirs is than we want to believe.

Nobody chooses the street as plan A.
You end up there through a series of doors that close one after another, often because of a system that never wanted to keep them open.

The most uncomfortable thing Cali teaches you is not seeing the decay. It's realizing that judging is far easier than understanding. And that understanding requires the courage to truly look at who stands before you, without turning away.

🇮🇹Aggirarsi tra le strade del sottomondo non è un'esperienza semplice.
Ti trovi davanti a centinaia di ragazzi giovanissimi, consumati dalla dipendenza e dalla vita di strada.

Sono succubi di un sistema che lucra sulle loro disperazioni. Farsi una dose vuol dire non pensare ai problemi.
Cali ti fa riflettere su quanto il confine tra la nostra vita e la loro sia più sottile di quanto vogliamo credere.

Non si sceglie la strada come piano A.

Si arriva lì attraverso una serie di porte che si chiudono una dopo l'altra, spesso per colpa di un sistema che non ha voluto tenerle aperte.

La cosa più scomoda che Cali ti insegna non è vedere il degrado. È rendersi conto che giudicare è molto più facile che capire. E che capire richiede il coraggio di osservare davvero, senza distogliere lo sguardo.

Over 100 gangs. A neighborhood where violence is routine and happiness means having one more day to live.

We entered the most dangerous part of the city guided by Estiven, a young man who managed to escape that world. Not through violence and intimidation, but through music. And he made us understand one thing: even where everything seems lost, there are still people who dream.

Who fight. Who know they've caused harm in the past, and for that reason choose to change their present, and their future.

Più di 100 gang. Un quartiere dove la violenza è routine e la felicità è avere un altro giorno di vita.
Siamo entrati nel posto più pericoloso della città guidati da Estiven, un ragazzo che da quel mondo è riuscito a uscire. Non con le armi e la sopraffazione, ma con la musica.

E ci ha fatto capire una cosa: anche dove tutto sembra perduto, c'è ancora chi sogna.
Chi lotta. Chi sa di aver fatto del male nel passato, e per questo sceglie di cambiare il proprio presente e quindi il proprio futuro.

Hidden in the heart of the World Capital of Salsa, there's a place few people ever get to enter. Because if you go in, chances are you won't come back out.

They call it the underworld.
A zone controlled by more than 100 gangs, where drug trafficking is the only reality people know.

But even here, there are people trying to change their lives.

We managed to get inside to witness what it means to search for happiness in a world built on poverty and absolute violence.

Nel cuore della Capitale Mondiale della Salsa si nasconde un posto a cui pochi accedono. Perché se entri, è probabile che tu non ci esca più.

Lo chiamano il sottomondo.
Una zona in mano a più di 100 gang, dove il narcotraffico è l'unica realtà conosciuta.

Ma anche qui, ci sono persone che provano a cambiare la propria vita.

Siamo riusciti ad entrare per testimoniare com'è cercare la felicità in un mondo fatto di povertà e violenza assoluta.

🇬🇧Analog memories from Warsaw, where the national holiday becomes every year a stage for the global far right. And from the border between Poland and Belarus, where thousands of people try to enter Europe in the hope of a different life.
Two distant worlds, yet part of the same story.

That of an increasingly divided West, where opinions grow more radical and the line between "us" and "them" grows sharper every day. Meanwhile, something essential is being lost, a simple awareness that belongs to everyone, but that the noise of everyday life tends to drown out:
We are all citizens of the same planet. As long as we remember this, there is room for peace. But when we start to believe that there is an enemy to fight, that there is always someone to fear, we end up building a world where fear never ends. And where, sooner or later, we are someone else's enemy too.


🇮🇹 Memorie analogiche da Varsavia, dove la festa nazionale diventa ogni anno palcoscenico dell'estrema destra mondiale. E dal confine tra Polonia e Bielorussia, dove migliaia di persone cercano di entrare in Europa nella speranza di una vita diversa.

Due mondi distanti ma parte della stessa storia.

Quella di un Occidente sempre più diviso, dove le opinioni si radicalizzano e il confine tra "noi" e "loro" si fa ogni giorno più netto. Nel frattempo, qualcosa di essenziale si perde. Una consapevolezza semplice, che appartiene a tutti, ma che il rumore quotidiano tende a coprire:
Siamo tutti cittadini dello stesso pianeta. Finché lo ricordiamo, c'è spazio per la pace.
Ma quando iniziamo a credere che esista un nemico da combattere, che ci sia sempre qualcuno di cui aver paura, finiamo per costruire un mondo in cui la paura non finisce mai. E in cui, prima o poi, siamo nemici di qualcuno anche noi.
