Hello FleeceFolk, I've seen a lot of discourse online about Tour de Fleece 2026 already so I thought I'd create a thread for us to share as we prep.

WHAT IS TOUR DE FLEECE?

Tour de Fleece is a spinalong every year alongside the Tour de France - the annual multi-stage cycling race. The goal is to spin every day the Tour is on (there are rest days incorporated into the actual Tour de France, which some spinners take on board as a rest day for them as well). Spinners organise themselves by their Guild or other groups online to share what they are spinning online.

WHEN IS IT?

This year Tour de Fleece will run from Saturday the 4th of July to Sunday the 26th of July 2026.


WHY?

I think the answer to this depends on who you ask, but I think everyone can unanimously agree that the point is to connect with other spinners and spin every day!

A lot of groups can set challenges and goals to make it competitive but how you take this on is completely up to you! I have previously 'raced' with other groups but got tired of keeping up the meterage of my spins and stats so this year I am hoping to run a group just for FleeceFolk to keep each other company - no pressure, no goals except to spin every day of the Tour.



WHERE CAN YOU FIND TOUR DE FLEECEFOLK 2026?

I will be running my hashtag #TDFleeceFolk2026 on Instagram and Facebook but the main chatter will hopefully be on Ravelry (link in bio). If you are spinning with the FleeceFolk Flock, feel free to populate this thread with your spins.

Leading up to the race, there is a notable Instagram account called Prologue Tour de Fleece where folks share how they prep their fleece and spins leading up to the start of the tour - I always find that this bit is more fun than the actual spinning!!
