👋 Hi there! I'm Lizzie, a middle-aged autistic ADHD-er and this is a space where I share my thoughts and experiences around my diagnoses (often with a focus on how neurodivergence intersects with perimenopause or menopause and chronic illness) and to connect with others who are, or suspect they may be autistic or AuDHD.
I want this space to be welcoming to all so respectful conversation only please. Anything other will be removed. Self-identification/self-realisation is valid. ✌
⏰ New videos every Friday around 3pm UK time
🔴 Monthly livestreams on the first Sunday of the month
📌 Please Note! I am one autistic person with lower support needs and my videos relate to my experiences only. To get a fuller understanding of what autism is (and what it isn't) it's important to watch content from a variety of autistic people, including those of us with higher support needs. 🧡

🚨 New video alert! This really isn't the video I meant to publish today but I had gallbladder surgery this week, which wasn't wholly expected.
Anyway, join me and Ian for a chat about how we met, as it's a question that's come up a few times in comments. I'm aware I've published a fair few videos featuring guests recently, so apologies to those who aren't into them as much.
I imagine I'll be taking a wee bit of time away from the studio while I recover but I hope to be back very soon! 🧡

👋 Autistic people, let’s have a poll to start the week!
In terms of self-regulation and wellbeing, how important is it for you to be able to regularly access "autistic flow"?
According to the BPS, "Flow state is typically described as the feeling of time falling away as we become completely absorbed in an activity. For autistic people, this kind of deep immersion ("autistic flow") can be especially intense — and, new research suggests, important for day-to-day functioning." Full article at www.bps.org.uk/research-digest/new-study-highlight… - and my most recent video is about this study 🌀
📍 As always, there are only four options available on these polls so they’re often not ‘perfect’ answers - and they definitely won't be on this one! As such, please pick the answer that best represents you and feel free to add more detail in comments 🧡

Does imaginative storytelling, or writing / telling fictional stories come easily to you?

👋 Autistic/AuDHD people, let’s have a poll to start the week!
Do you have, or suspect you have, MCAS?
Mast cell activation syndrome is a multi-systemic disorder, which I think is most easily described as an overactive immune system. Triggers can include food, medicines, smells, chemicals or exercise, and it can be extremely debilitating. MCAS is seen more often in neurodivergent people, and frequently occurs alongside EDS and/or POTS.
More info can be found on the Mast Cell Action website at www.mastcellaction.org/ and I've made a few videos about it, for those interested.
‼️ As always, there are only four options available on these polls, so they’re often not ‘perfect’ answers. As such, please pick the answer that best represents you and feel free to comment with further info below. 🧡

👋 Hello! I'd love to ask a wee favour if I may? I'm sure you'll know that I occasionally make content about the autistic perimenopause and menopause, and I've been joined by some fabulous guests on the topic (Dr Rachel Moseley, Prof Julie Gamble-Turner and Dr Lisle).
However, it seems that behind the scenes YouTube flags this kind of content as potentially sensitive. I understand the reasons why (grifters and snake oil sales patter) but this means that my videos never do very well in terms of views but I absolutely *KNOW* there is an audience for menopause related videos.
It's also incredibly demotivating to create videos that you know won't be served to the people who most need them. I can't self-promote on other platforms such as Facebook groups as it often goes against their policies - and, again, I totally understand their reasons why.
Soooo.... here's where you come in! I would love for you to perhaps mention my channel to people you know who might benefit from content about the autistic/AuDHD experience of menopause as it seems like word of mouth might be more effective than the YouTube algorithm in this instance!
Thanks, everyone! 🧡 🧡 🧡

👋 Autistic people, let’s have a poll to start the week!
Would you describe *your own* version of autism as a disability or a difference - or both?
