Why I Started the Family Vibes Channel
Finding Breath in the Chaos of Parenting, With a Little Help from My Favorite Channel
There’s a moment most parents know all too well—when the noise in the house swells, patience runs thin, and you feel like you're about to burst. Not because you don’t love your kids. You do—more than anything. But because your nervous system is fried, the dog just threw up, and you forgot the dentist appointment (again). That moment… is why I started Family Vibes.
The Inspiration Behind the Calm
Before I ever hit “record,” I was just another parent searching YouTube for something—anything—that might help me slow down. Not parenting hacks. Not screen-time debates. Just… something soothing. That’s when I stumbled upon Dreamy—a channel that honestly changed my life.
Dreamy isn’t about being a better parent, or more productive, or any of the exhausting checklists we hold over ourselves. It’s about peace. Through gentle animations, ambient music, and affirmations that sound like they’re whispering straight to your nervous system, Dreamy gave me what I didn’t realize I was missing: permission to pause.
I wanted to build on that gift—and give it a specific home for people like me. People in the thick of parenthood. People who have toddlers and teens, a house that’s somehow always loud and always messy, and hearts that are constantly both full and overwhelmed.
Family Vibes: Built for the Overloaded, the Tender, and the Trying
The Family Vibes channel started as a quiet rebellion. A place to push back—gently—against the pressure to be the perfect parent, the emotionally available partner, the high-performer, and the calm zen master all at once.
Instead, it became a space where:
Meditations are short enough to sneak in before school drop-off
Lo-fi beats keep you grounded during a 15-minute reset
Timers double as tools to calm your kid… and yourself
Animations and affirmations remind you that feeling big feelings doesn’t make you a bad parent—it makes you a human one
The channel’s visual world is built around a recurring cast—me (a tattooed dad with glasses and a tired heart), my two daughters, our ridiculous dog, and a lot of chaotic mornings and quiet breathwork. It’s not “relatable” content in a performative way. It’s just… real.
Some days, you’ll find videos where a dad is breathing through anxiety while the rest of the house hums in the background. Other days, it’s the mom meditating on the beach, or the kids curled up on the couch after a tantrum. Every frame is drawn with love—and with the understanding that parenting is often more about emotional regulation than control.
I Made This Because I Needed It
There’s no huge brand behind this channel. No algorithmic genius. It’s just me, making what I wish existed when I was having a hard day. Or when I wasn’t sure how to ground myself. Or when I felt ashamed of how angry I’d gotten over spilled cereal.
It’s a way to model emotional honesty for my kids—and maybe for yours too.
It’s a way to feel, without shame.
And most of all, it’s a way to say:
You are not alone.
Full Credit Where It’s Due: Thank you Lofi Girl
None of this would have happened without@LofiGirl . That channel set the tone, literally and figuratively, for what it looks like to create digital calm in a noisy world. The atmospheric design, the affirmation cadence, the dedication to softness—it all served as both a blueprint and a reminder that simplicity is powerful.
So if you’re reading this because Family Vibes resonated with you, I hope you’ll go check out @LofiGirl too.
They started this wave. I’m just grateful to surf in its wake.
