Welcome to the Badger's Apprentice, where we'll take a light hearted look at movies, without all the spittle-filled anger and personal offence-taking that tends to dominate film discourse recently.
We'll try to enjoy ourselves as we discuss plot holes, obscure background details, and fanciful extrapolations of minor plot points that have the potential to cast a film in a whole new, usually darker and slightly f**ked light.
So grab yourself a pint and a packet of nuts from the bar and join me, Jeff, and sometimes Mr. Colin Gerrard, on this journey through cinema, with videos, shorts and the podcast TROPE ON A ROPE, all available here on The Badger's Apprentice.
The Badger's Apprentice
Hello,
Just wanted to give an update. I'm currently working on a longer video than normal - currently clocking in at about 30-40 minutes. its not the SECTION 31 one, that's snowballed into a whole STAR TREK nightmare that'll be along later.
This one is about a completely bat-shit film that I like, but every single element of it is insane. Its glorious, ridiculous, pretentious, and generally a hot mess, but by god I love it.
I started recording audio for it today, and also filmed a live scene to prove I'm not AI, because there's not a computer in the land with the processing power to come up with architecture this impressive.
There's a screenshot of the test footage below, which in some ways acts as a face reveal if you zoom in real hard and use your imagination. I did learn two things filming today though, 1) do it again on a day when the weather is better, and 2) wear some kind of jacket.
Anyway, I'm aiming to get this video out in the next few weeks so hold tight. If you want a clue on what film it is:
Japanese - superhero who does a war crime - no-one seems to care - batshit.
(more clues available on request)
Alright, see you in a few weeks. In the meantime, tomorrow im going to post the out-takes of today's filming on our patreon if anyone's interested.

Hi there,
A while ago I was going to do a review of STAR TREK: SECTION 31, but everyone and their mum was giving it a proper kickin' at the time and I felt bad piling on. So I thought I would wait a while and see if my thoughts matured or soured over time, and now, the time has come to see what has or hasn't been festering - like a Schrödinger's Cat of nit-picking, for a movie hardly anyone watched.
It should be out at some point in the next fortnight, though I may be watching TRON: ARES this weekend so I might get momentarily distracted with that.
Also Mr. Cube Goes to War is still on the list of things to do - currently doing research by rewatching the boring BBC version of War of the Worlds, which is on ITVX for some reason.

Hello, join us as we work our way through the turbulent waters of TERRY GILLIAM films, a man with unbounded imagination that often comes up against real world problems. In DR. PARNASSUS he (not for the first time) came up against the problem of his main character dying halfway through filming, so had to come up with some crafty solutions to navigate his way around it. Problem is that the film, as inventive as it is, has a real problem (not for the first time) with women and how old they are... its a bit crook.

The Badger's Apprentice
After a bit of two and fro in the real world, the podcast will be back on a regular basis. This week we're looking at TERRY GILLIAM films - though we hadn't fully decided on that at time of recording - starting with BARON MUNCHAUSEN. So join us as we explore a reality far from the lies and balderdash of your own.

Hi, just to let you know I'm currently working on a couple of videos, one about HEADS OF STATE, and another about a certain Mr. Cube's World Wars - (the latter of which might be long, so bear with me).
I've also set up a PATREON: patreon.com/thebadgersapprentice if you want to support the channel, as well as the podcast TROPE ON A ROPE. If your in a position to support us then thank you, and I'll try and put as much extra content up there as I can.
Currently there is an extra DAISY RIDLEY DOES DIE HARD - ADDENDUM, as well as video versions of my podcast with Colin -TROPE ON A ROPE.
I am however mulling over whether to have a YouTube members area that mirrors the Patreon? If of course anyone was interested in either.
Let me know what you think.

Just so you know I'm still here, and I'm currently working on a video that has gotten away from me somewhat. It started as a 700 word review of a bad movie (DAISY RIDLEY HAVING A BIT OF A DIE HARD - aka CLEANER - 2025), but its morphed into 3000+ word monster featuring Bill Hicks, Wesley Snipes, Steven Segal and human breast milk... its been a process.
If you want to watch the movie its on SKY CINEMA in the UK, though you don't need to have watched it for the video. Enjoy the poster though, its kinda kick-ass.
Aiming for the video to be out later this week.
