Who has done more damage to vanlife?

The person quietly living in an old $5,000 van...

Or the influencer selling a six-figure version of "freedom" to millions of people?

Before you answer, remember: neither side is probably who you think it is.

SPOILER:
I'm working on a video that might p!ss off a lot of people 🙃

Let me hear your thoughts 💭

So far, most of you voted for updates/vlogs on my last post with a poll, but I just posted one and it’s hasn’t gotten many views 🤔

Right now, I only shared my email for temporary parking & safe places to stay around the San Diego area while I navigate follow up appointments and travel logistics.

Please do not send veterinary advice or medical theories about my dogs. I’m working directly with licensed vets, and they are the only ones guiding treatment. I’m well versed in holistic care and have limited funds to purchase everything the comments and emails are suggesting for Rook, let alone find them in Mexico.

Imagine if I tried everything that every comment suggested to make all of the commenters feel better? My poor Rook would suffer.

Messages outside of housing/parking offers may not be responded to so I can stay organized during a very busy time.

Thank you for understanding and respecting that boundary ❤️

There is no resolution yet.

Rook was hospitalized and is finally home.
We have more appointments ahead and we're preparing to leave Mexico, but we still don't know exactly where we'll land in the U.S.

There are still a lot of unanswered questions.

But after months of feeling like every time I put one fire out another one starts, I figured it was time to share an honest update on where things stand.

If you've been following this journey, thank you for being here. Your support has carried us through some incredibly difficult moments.

The new video is live now. ❤️🐾

Rook is home and he is passed out 🥹

We’re not out of the woods yet - we have to go back to the vet tomorrow. He is showing improvement but we have a few more days of figuring this out.

My world is falling apart

Living one day at a time is looking a LOT different since my Victron solar charge controller failed me ⚡️

I’m running on limited power 🏃‍♂️

The boys 🐾 and I are still trying to find a temporary place to land somewhere around San Diego or nearby while I deal with the aftermath of this dental detour…

I need to stay close enough to keep coming back to Mexico for follow up appointments, but I’m mainly just looking for safe/legal parking with weather that’s comfortable for the dogs.

I’m willing to pay. 💰

A power outlet would be a bonus, but not necessary. Sun access for my portable fold out panel would help too - at least until I can replace the charge controller!

If anybody knows of a safe spot, driveway, property, etc nearby, let me know.

Appreciate all the suggestions so far, but local pay campgrounds are mostly booked in advance (and way out of my budget) and free campsites are nil in the area.

❤️‍🩹 Exploring a Temporary Home Base Near San Diego ❤️‍🩹
(Trying a little community experiment 🧪)

First ☝️
I just want to say thank you. ❤️

The kindness, encouragement, messages, shares, and donations some of you have sent during this absolute dumpster fire of a chapter has meant the world to me! So many of you have helped me feel less alone while I navigate something I genuinely never saw coming.

I’m still not fully through this situation yet (legal/medical follow-ups in MX are unfortunately still part of the picture), so I’m trying to create a little stability without completely financially drowning in the process.

I’m looking for a **safe, legal place to park my van for 4 to 8 weeks near San Diego (or nearby cooler areas)** where temperatures are tolerable for my boys 🐾

This would be a **paid arrangement** not free camping.

Ideal setup:
✔️ Safe/legal parking
✔️ Quiet environment
✔️ Level spot for the van with space to safely put out a portable solar panel
✔️ Water or power outlet access is a bonus

I highly value privacy and safety for both of us and would ideally prefer a woman, couple, or family situation. I’m super independent, mostly working, editing, taking appointments, and hanging with Sparrow & Rook 🐾

If you think you might have a fit, please email:

📩bunnyandbeyond@gmail.com

Include:
• General area
• Property type
• Fair compensation expectations
• A little about you 🙏

And for those who’ve asked how to continue helping while I figure this next chapter out, watching videos, sharing content, using affiliate links, Patreon, or donations genuinely all help more than you know right now. I hate even needing to say that, but I want to be honest about where things are at. ❤️‍🩹

I know some of you aren’t thrilled seeing me ask for help.

Trust me, I don’t love asking either!

I know many of you have told me over the years that community matters, and right now, I could really use mine. ❤️

If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I’m stubbornly independent. I built my van myself for under $5k, I work hard, and I’ve always tried to figure things out on my own.
But I’m at a financial breaking point right now, and I’d rather be honest than pretend I’m fine.

Between the dental nightmare, recovery, legal expenses, and now my solar setup failing (my Victron charge controller died, which means limited power to edit/work while living full-time in my van), things have stacked up in a way I simply wasn’t prepared for.

And before anyone asks: yes, I am working. Long-form YouTube videos take a LOT more than hitting record. Filming, scripting, storytelling, problem-solving, voiceovers, editing… sometimes one video takes days or weeks because I genuinely don’t do anything half-azzed. I care deeply about making content that’s actually valuable and worth your time.

Now that I’m finally at a place where I can comfortably talk again ❤️‍🩹 I want to give back to those helping me.

Anyone who donates $75+ can receive a FREE 1-hour Vanlife consultation over Zoom (normally $100). We can talk about:
🚐 vanlife realities
⚡ solar & power lessons learned
🐶 life on the road with pets
💰 budgeting / income ideas
📍 travel logistics & safety
🎥 content creation as a nomad
🛠 van build questions

If money is tight, there are still ways to help that mean the world:

• Comment/engage
